Texas hoops coach sighting

  • Per Jerry Meyer, Texas assistant Chris Ogden is in Philadelphia watching an AAU Tournament.

Texas coaches will here, Peach Jam (next week), Las Vegas and Orlando in the coming days and weeks.

  • Ricky Seals-Jones is among the many hoopers in Philadelphia, and I'm quite sure Coach Ogden will have a presence at his games.

  • I've been following basketball recruiting for a while and I can tell you that in this recruiting cycle, news regarding Texas or its targets is almost nonexistent. Nothing against you guys Gerry, but who the eff is Texas even recruiting and who do they have a legitimate shot at? Besides the same guys we've heard about for the past year (aka Randle and Frazier)

They are not getting those two either. Maybe they think if they show up enough Randle might give them a token visit. They could be looking for some two to four year players.

  • Coach Ogden is watching Keith Frazier right now.

Will they at least get a visit with him? Can't get Randle to look at him I bet.

Texas is trying hard on both.

Silky, I'm curious about who Texas is chasing as well. I went to the "Basketball Recruiting -- Targets" page. One can use the drop down menu above or the following link.

I'd love updates regarding Rondae Jefferson, listed as one of three top targets, and Austin Colbert, listed Texas in his five favorites. Lanier is mentioned to be recruiting both, but if Ogden is in Philadelphia, I wonder if he's in contact with Jefferson, who is from Chester, which is as close to the Philly airport as Philly is.

  • Barnes and his staff are very good recruiters considering how poor our home crowds are. We don't have many scholarships to give for '13.

  • 2013 Recruiting = Randle, Frazier, & Nick King (Memphis, TN), & possibly C Dominic Woodson

    - King recently confirmed his final 4 to Memphis, TN, Vandy, & Texas
    - Woodson is from Round Rock via Vermont; haven't read an update lately, but he was down to Texas, UConn, Mich St, & Baylor

I suspect we may hear about others during these next few AAU tournaments that GH mentioned @ the top

  • This month is the key guys. Frazier and Randle are still at the top, but are long shots.

Texas is evaluating a lot of guys, and after this month, I expect them to narrow and work to get guys in for visits.

  • The only other guys that I've heard mentioned as possible 2013 targets are the two Memphis kids.

Jefferson is a long shot. He's either staying home to play for Temple, or heading out west to Arizona.

Colbert is a guy that IMO is a great back-up plan. He said that he really wants to play in the south and Texas, Baylor, Florida, and others are in it.

  • Nick King and Rondae Jefferson are playing in the Global Nike Challenge in and around D.C. No mention of any Texas coach being present in this write-up, but I don't think this contains an exhaustive list. I certainly hope Texas had someone there.

  • Sounds like Penders when Shaq was in San Antonio. When you can't get a kid from Texas to even have you on their list or visit at least once something is wrong.
