******Texas-TCU game thread (FINAL w/box score)******

  • When Lou Holtz can't even talk about the Texas defense without laughing, that underlines how terrible this team is tonight and the season. It is just embarrassing to see the Texas Longhorns play football at this level.

    Case cant throw it over 30 yards and stares his receivers down which is why he is going to get picked apart if he stays in. Ash granted has been horrible but he gives us the best chance to win.

    No, Ash does not give us the best shot too win this game. In no way, shape or form does he look prepared for this game. It's clearly over his head.

    Really bad. Most of the Texas high school coaches hated him. Hurt us recruiting wise.

    They had to pull Ash. He had 2 red zone turnovers, a bad fumble and his passes were all over the place from an accuracy standpoint. ALL TCU points are off his turnovers.

    I don't know if they should keep McCoy in after half, but I think it's the only real option now that you've pulled Ash. We need to change the protection up when McCoy is in the game though. We can't protect him from a true spread formation with our OL against those DE's.

    Texas could easily be the team w/ the Lead. Opportunity has been knocking. Any Longhorn wish to answer that door? Hello? Is the Locker Rm incident more involved? Enigmatic?

    Did you see Case when he came in? He looks "prepared" to you? Again, Ash was moving the ball. Give him a chance to get it together.

    I cannot believe this is happening again.

    Surely you aren't referring to the locker room dust up yesterday. Surely you aren't that, well lost to say the least.

    What's so unbelievable about it? There's a much better coach on the other sidelines.

    Sorry, you turn the ball over 3 times, you don't deserve the chance to make it 4. That ain't good football.

  • May as well just roll with Ash IMO. He looks like shit but we were at least kind of moving the ball with him.

    Tell that to every great qb. It happens. It's what you do after the fact. Would you pull Manziel? Would you have pulled VY, Major, or Colt? Yeah...that's what I thought.

    Alienated many of past Longhorn Nation and more. Poor, poor decision to replace one of the finest Def. Coaches in College Football history, Robert "Leon" Fuller for Gary Darnell. From a stout, top ranked 4--3 defenses to Porous 3--4 Darnel defenses.

    "UT fans do understand -- "I'm not sure everybody understands how far we've come with this program and where we were coming from." -- UT head coach John Mackovic, Oct. 31, 1994

    Coach Mackovic's comments were aimed at frustrated UT alumni, implying we don't know what we are talking about when we criticize his job performance. In response, here are a few things I and most of my fellow ex-students do indeed understand:

    1) We understand that coach Mackovic has taken the best offensive talent in the Southwest Conference and molded it into the worst, most ill-conceived and boring unit since Fred Akers' 1983 squad;

    2) We understand that coach Mackovic is on the verge of his third consecutive five-loss season and is no closer to having the program at a competitive level with Texas A&M than it was in 1991;

    3) We understand that everyone in the country except for coach Mackovic can clearly see that James Brown should be his starting quarterback, and he should have been since the Rice game;

    >>>>>4) We understand that coach Mackovic fired one of the finest defensive coordinators in the nation in Leon Fuller last January, and replaced him with the relatively inexperienced Gary Darnell, who has week in and week out fielded a unit that can only be described as an utter disgrace;

    5) We understand that coach Mackovic has lost at least six games in three short years on coaching alone, and has successfully ended a 27-year winning streak against TCU and a 29-year winning streak against Rice, and has recorded the single worst loss to Texas Tech in the history of the rivalry;

    6) We understand that coach Mackovic has failed for three consecutive weeks to properly prepare his team to play, and that his arrogant personality has caused him to lose the respect and loyalty of many players on the current Longhorn team;

    8) And finally, we understand that if John Mackovic is still the head coach at UT in January, UT will end up with a second consecutive mediocre-to-poor recruiting class that will set the program back another three years.

    Because we understand these things, and because chancellor William Cunningham, president Bob Berdahl and the board of regents have repeatedly shown that their one and only concern about the UT football program is how much money it generates, I would urge all ex-students of the University of Texas to send a letter to the university stating that they will withhold all funds of any nature from the university until the day that both Deloss Dodds and coach Mackovic have been fired. This is the only way UT fans can avoid another half-decade of what we have seen for the last three years. David Blackmon, Arlington."

    You're absolutely right. I think I will order the Spice channel on Direct TV. At least when someone takes it up the arse on that channel, it's fun to watch. Not like this mutilation.
