Texas Moves On

Bruce, your take is very cerebral and that isn't my strong suite. Someone once said to stay away from using 5 dollar words when a quarter will do. Are you saying Sealy, TX is a shithole town with little opportunity and you gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead?

No, Bruce is not cerebral in any regard and is attempting to make a political point on a college football forum, where it doesn't belong. Bruce is a fundamentalist and zealot, the furthest thing from cerebral.

One last thing. RSJ is a good kid. Really good kid and we should all wish him the best. Unfortunately for him, the men in his life are viewing him as a means to an end for self serving reasons. Imagine yourself at 17 and the only thing your "mentors" see in you are dollar signs. So far, this isn't a story that will end well. Historically, football programs that play this game don't give 2 cents about the overall well being of the scholarship athlete. God forbid a serious injury. Should have been a wake up call for the RSJ camp. But it wasn't. I truly want RSJ to rise above this and be a success story. But when you post your comments and discuss this at the water cooler/ tailgate, speak kindly of the kid. He can't divorce his Dad or AAU coach. Nor does he likely have the wisdom at his age to know who is guiding him with his best interests at heart.

totally agree. wish the kid the best. hate reading stuff about him. As stated before, he had some ego but who wouldn't being the #1 WR?? That said, he always came across better so the guess was always the handlers... the issue with all this is Mack has made such a "big" public announcement that it will get the NCAA wondering. that said, they may or may not do anything.

I would run if I were a program because the situation is implying pay to play. I would not want that level of scrutiny on my program no matter who was the recruit.

BlackTooth, if that's you in your picture, you look like a really smart dude....now, hurry along now back to your board.

Looks like a chubby Mack Davis.

  • How about this scenario:

National Singing Day. RSJ has a signing ceremony at school with his "folks" around. Signs his LOI to X school and "dad" signs it. RSJ says he'll handle the faxing in the school office, where he faxes his LOI to Texas with Mom's signature.

    I can dream can't I?

RSJ wants to play for a school who wins like Oregon. Who can blame him?

RSJ will not go to Oregon. He neither an all-purpose speedster nor a jetback. Supersized WRs who will fill out into TEs in a college S&C program are non-existent in that offense. Try again

Actually, Colt Lyerla is RSJ's doppelganger on the field.

  • Or I guess RSJ is Lyerla's doppelganger.

Lyerla has 4 receptions for 44 yards and 1 TD against the cupcakes they have played. And he's a TE. Would be a bad move for RSJ.

    Based on what?

I dont think Briles will be there much longer. Greener pastures and greater opportunities await him elsewhere. And Mr. Rhodes would look badass in Burnt Orange

Colt Lyerla couldve played about 5 positions, being much more filled-out and college ready than RSJ will be when he first sets foot on a college campus, but WR was never one of them. He wanted to play for Oregon, no matter where they put him. He was recruited as an athlete if memory serves
