DeSoto just won the 4x100 relay in 5A with a time of 40.09. Not too shabby.

San Antonio East Central 2013 S Austin Jupe ran 14.15 in the 110-hurdles, which was good for 4th.

Aldine Nimitz 2013 RB/Ath. Dre'Vian Young finished 2nd in the 5A 400-meters at 46.97. He is the younger brother of Selvin Young. So far Kansas State has offered as a RB, but look for him to take off in 2012.
The winner of the 5A 400-meters was Mansfield Timberview's Aldrich Bailey, as expected. He ran 45.92.

The 5A 200-meters was tremendous...
Abraham Hall of South Grand Prairie won at a smoking 20.58.
Longview WR and future Arkansas Razorback Eric Hawkins 2nd at 20.80.
2013 Katy WR/CB and Baylor commit Kyle Fulks 4th at 20.86.
Plano West RB/WR and future New Mexico WR Carlos Wiggins 9th at 21.62.

2012 Houston Westside and future TCU WR/PR Deante Gray went 10.44 for 4th.
2012 SA Brandeis S and future FSU DB Colin Blake went 10.96 for 9th.

Echols is damn fast...he was smokin in the 4x1 and 4x2. But he sure is small for football...needs to hit the weights!

173 is the listed weight. That isn't too small for a corner. He may have lost some during track. It is probably not anything to worry about once he gets in the strength program full time. It is one of the few things that Jimmy Johnson was always right about, you cannot get too much speed on your football team. We have a great group coming in this summer.

I'm going with Mansfield Legacy's Shelbi Vaughan for the 2012 meet MVP.
She absolutely crushed the state record in the girls discus with a throw of 187-10. The old record was 163-06 set in 2005.
She also crushed her 2011 5A state record of 161-00.
She also won the 5A shot put with a throw of 50-01.75.
She signed with Texas A&M for volleyball, and track & field.

How did the Celina relay team do? I read about a month ago that they set the fastest time in the nation for this year.

Celina ran 41.41 in the 400M relay for second behind Stafford at 41.34. Celina won the 1600M relay with a time of 3:16.03. Carthage was second in 3:19.13. BTW, that time would have been 4th in 5A, which was won by Duncanville in 3:14.38.
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
