The problem with predicting this game is we have no idea what game plan we will show up with.
So far this year we have been schizophrenic to say the least with regards to our offensive gameplanning. If Mack meddles and gives voice to the self doubts that permeate his psyche in these sorts of games I could see him calling for a more conservative approach in an effort to dominate TOP like he tried to do against WVU and OU. If we do that, we lose and it plays right into the hands of TT. The strength of their D is the interior of their line. Hyder and Simmons are actually playing at a really high level for them. Repeatedly trying to pound Bergeron and Gray at the interior will yield predictable results. Their weakness along the DL is their ends. Even with the deficiencies we have at TE and FB, we can have some success setting the edge against them with our pin and pull and power sweeps and this should be the approach. It will open up everything else in Harsin's play book if we do this and get them to adjust to try and contain it.
On Defense, We need to stop the DL dumbF&%kery on 1st and 2nd downs and save the stunts and twists for obvious passing downs only (and even then i would employ them very sparingly). Okafor has a real mismatch against McDaniel as do most of our guys along the line. The only guy on their Oline I see as decent is Le'Raven Clark (he is going to be really good one day) but he is a RS Freshman. We can line up and beat them straight up, and if we do, Doege has shown a propensity for mistakes when pressured.
If we come in playing the same asinine games on Defense and with an uber-conservative ball control plan on offense we get boatraced. If not, we can win this game but until I see what our plan is, I'm not making any predictions.

Ha ha..funny how most of the staff have a record as bad or worse than the Longhorns!
There will be plenty of room for the fairweather bandwagonners when Texas wins and comes home to play Iowa State (if they lose to OU will have lost 3 of last 4) and TCU (who may have 4 game losing streak coming to Austin).
I will be bold and say that the Longhorn defense plays a good enough game for an improbable win in Lubbock.

Dave: 7-1
Gerry: 6-2
Blake: 6-2
Bobby: 5-3
Jeff: 5-3Doesn't say much for the predictive abilities does it?
To me all it says is that the staff is no better than a casual; fan. The staff definitely has their biases.

I was always afraid of Tech when they were the underdog...now that the roles have reversed...I feel good about Texas going in and playing its best defensive game of the year...one week after playing its best defensive game of the year six days ago.
The secret...are you listening Manny D? ...is to let these athletic kids simply play a basic defense.
We still have 2013 & 2014 to show them all these fancy plays with all that motion. This has been the problem...trying to put a square inside a circle. Seriously...we have better athletes than Tech does. That's the truth. Why don;t we just line up and play football. Just win baby. Sure I may be optimistic but its better than being pessimistic. I like the idea of being 7-2... with momentum and home games vs what will be struggling Iowa State & TCU...we'll wait and see about KState when the time comes... Hook Em Horns!
