Staff Predictions: Texas - OK State

  • 37-24, Texas. Longhorns pull away in the late 3rd after a relatively tight game.

  • I think OSU will score, but not enough.

    41 - 31 horns.

  • Before the season, I picked this game as 31-20, Texas. Since then, neither defense has been as good as I had expected. OSU giving up 59 to Arizona, who then got shut out by Oregon convinced me that I was way off. I think UT's defense turns things around in this game to some extent. 52-34 UT. Brown, Bergeron and Gray all have big games.

Burton is a d__k head. I never have felt that he was a good longhorn fan. He is always so negative.

Frankly you don't really deserve a response but here goes.

Predicting a negative outcome for the Horns does not equate to not liking a team, it's about not liking their chances in a particular game.

I could well be wrong about this game. It wouldn't be the first time and it certainly won't be the last.

Correct. Not much faith in the D right now.

Are they that bad Bobby ?

Tell me ain't so Bro' !

But you got a point - the D will definitely have to step up.

Clearly a ignorant post by someone who doesn't know a thing about football or sports in general. Being a fan of a team (as Bobby mentions) doesn't mean pumping sunshine 24/7 despite what you see in front of you. I respect Bobby for coming out and clearly pointing to a valid concern with this team right now, despite what I or he may think as a "fan" with respect to wanting this team to win this weekend. I still think we get it done on D (force some turnovers), but it could very well go the other way.

On the defensive front, it's clear you haven't watched the games this season. I agree with Bobby that there are some concerns with the amount of big plays that this defense has given up, in particular on 3rd and long situations. Sooner or later that is going to catch up to you and with OSU putting up video game numbers on offense, it's a legitimate concern going in to this game. I think because our offense was so good against Ole Miss, that "concern" on D was minimized, but let's be honest, last year this team would have probably lost that game giving up 33 points (defense responsible for 26). Diaz gambles a lot with some his calls on D and right now, our defense has not shown consistently that we are up to the challenge. We are who we are on D and so that has to be fixed soon if we are going to be able to limit these high powered offenses in the Big 12 from having their way against us. Were still not at a point IMO where we can get in to a back and forth type of scoring situation going up against a quality team in the big 12 on offense. These are valid concerns and so while I hope our D is ready this weekend, I don't blame Bobby at all for having some doubt. That evidence has already been proven in the first three games. It's up to this defense to come out and prove that they are up to the challenge. So far, they really haven't done that from start to finish.

So my advise to you is try posting something of substance or value on this board if you want to be taken seriously. It's one thing to disagree, but it's another to throw trash out here and hide behind a screen doing it.

  • Going out on a limb here. Predict a 0-0 tie at the start of the game and either Texas or okie lite will win based on who plays better. I could be wrong, though.

  • The only problem I see with BB's prediction is he mentions this as a trap, yet in his comments he says Texas has not fared well against the better teams in the Big XII. How is that a trap when you haven't beaten someone in a couple of years?

  • My thought on joining this site was that maybe we'll benefit from Bobby's full attention for a few months or so before he has to start spending most of his time running big 247. We have been blessed.

    Texas - 35
    OSU - 10

  • Only way bobby is right (IMHO) is if OSU wins the turnover battle.

Certainly could happen, where is Ash's head after the 1st pick he throws?

But against the only good team OSU faced, they were treated like cat litter, their D which I thought was respectable gave up 500 yards and over 50 points.

Would be neither shocked nor bothered to see OSU ahead at half but doubt they can hang through 4 quarters with us.

We win in the 4th by 2 scores.

    IDMAS

  • Texas 38-17

I just see OSU being no better than middle of the pack in the Big 12 this year. I think the first team defense holds them to 10 points in the first 3+ quarters and the final 7 is scored during trash time.

While I and others have joked about free subscriptions, it is your integrity to call it like you see it that has me paying. The rest of you mods also have that. You shall know the Truth.
I too have felt that our defense has fallen down some. I expect that they will play with great intensity in this one, and will make my usual prediction- the team that wins the turnover battle wins.
Get Hooked said it would be better to say the team that scores the most points will winbiggrin
but I believe the two go hand in hand.

Looking at your history, you either have a beef with Bobby or the LHN. If you don't like Bobby, GTFO the board and go play in traffic somewhere else. Your comment was disrespectful and downright insolent. If you a paying member, I'll gladly pay extra to the site to make up for the revenue lost.

  • The Defense has something to prove and I think they will. The offense will hang a half a hundy on the outmanned Cowboys.

    I'm thinking 52-21.

FWIW Bobby. Sunshine pumping is not a requirement to run a kick ass site like this. I get the impression that you ARE a Longhorn fan and you are just expressing your well deserved opinion.

  • I predict at least one non-offensive TD and perhaps another turnover leading to a FG for a ten-point UT win. Call it 44-34.

  • 41-24 Horns.

Defense w/ some big plays even though OSU moves the ball, including at least 1 score.

JGray w/ a couple of pops for a big day overall on the ground.

Ash continues to have success, but also gives up at least one pick.
