Spurs/ Thunder

  • One helluva game. Old champions don't die easy. Gotta kill em.

And I think that 36 is even impressive with everything going against them. Just a terrific basketball game by both teams.

Agreed. Parker and Jackson were incredible. They gave their best and I respect the hell out of that.

  • Anyone think Pop starting Ginobili threw the Spurs' balance off?

  • So Durant was 10 years old when Duncan got his first ring.

I don't believe so. I understand the argument against it but I think Pop felt like he had to do something. They went with a shorter bench anyway so I'm not sure it affected rotations.

no because Green, Neal, and Bonner got went cold in games 3 and 4 so they had to do something for 5 and for the most part it worked.

  • Right now we are all happy for KD and lets not forget about Roy.
But a part of me is sad for the game of basketball as I really think it would have been good for the game if San Antonio was able to win a championship with this style of play.
I really think it had the possibility to change the model you build teams with.
Unfortunately I fear if the Heat come back and win and you have Heat vs Thunder you are going to have a ton of hero ball one on one because both teams will have athletic guys on the perimeter in terms of defense.

  • That 4th Q was as terribly biased on the whistle as 2002 WCF screw job on the Kings. The Thunder played great but it was all ruined by extremely biased refs. It was embarrassing to watch, our country can't even get a game that was invented here right anymore. I'm ashamed to be an American right now after witnessing that debacle.

  • How good was KD in this series?

    29.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists (more than 2/1 A/TO ratio), 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks. 58-109 from the field (53.2%), 10-28 from three (35.7%) and 51-56 FT's (91.1%).

In the playoffs, his scoring and rebounding are virtually the same as the regular season, but his TO's are down and assists up.

Great, great clutch and dominant performance.

    Agree!

One of the broadcaster said at the end of the game last night sometimes teams don't lose the other team is just better. That was what happened last night.................2 class organizations and teams........one has to win. I just want Durant and Ivey to win it all!

Glad you pointed this out............Colin Cowherd has been saying for a couple of years Durant was not a clutch player. Of course this is the same guy who said for years Aaron Rodgers was over-rated. (when Rodgers won a Super Bowl Cowherd then says I've telling you guys how good Rodgers is)

I would add I think KD played the entire game last night

Haha. Wow. Up until tonight OKC was on the receiving end of the terrible officiating. I was outraged. But ashamed to be an American? Seriously? Dude, take a chill pill.

Cowherd is an idiot. He laughed at people that said Durant should have been drafted first overall instead of Greg Oden, primarily because Durant couldn't bench press a certain amount of weight. I mean, bench press. Cowherd seriously criticized a basketball player with a freakish wingspan for not being able to bench press weight. Nothing about his shot, or basketball IQ, or body control, or passing ability, but bench press. Bench press. We talkin' 'bout bench press. Not his game. Not his game. Bench press.

Please. Don't go aggy on us. The flop kings got plenty of calls.

One team drove to the rim and got more contact. The other kept shooting 3's - and they stopped hitting them. If you want to keep OKC off the line, quit fouling them.

  • They should have given the MVP Trophy to the Portland Trailblazers for taking Greg Oden #1 over Durant. Presti is a great GM, he was responsible for the Spurs taking Parker, but what a gift for Kevin Durant to fall into your lap.

That's just flat out wrong. Okc's offense is predicated on moving screens and holding screens that never get called yet the Spurs had 6 pts in 3 pters and another couple of late possessions taken away on bogus moving screen calls. That alone would be the fix if it were the only instances.

Any one who can claim that wasn't incredibly biased officiating to decide that series in the 4th is obviously biased and delusional. The Spurs should have taken care of business earlier in the series, and Okc played great basketball, but when it was going to come down to a game 7 in SA and the league saw it had an opp to put Okc in during a tight 4th Q in game 6 they took it. It's just that little slant that decides things when two teams are very close and the nba does it repeatedly.

  • Hearing Spurs fans whine about the officiating is pure comedy.

  • Prometheus,

I think I saw 1 call that was truly bad, but it was a case of cosmic justice. Manu ran around all series damn near spontaneously combusting with the slightest contact, so it seemed fitting that Harden did it to him on that last 3.

Other than that I saw the aggressive home team get the calls they typically get.

I have the game recorded. If you can recall specific situations (score, play, etc), I'll go and review the game.

I blame Obama. Obama and the gays. And Joey Crawford. So Obama, homosexuals and Joey Crawford plus I should probably throw in a terrorist or two.

  • SA lost cuz tony stooped driving the line for only god knows why. He was getting there at will, but then hit a few jumpers and thought he could hit them all night. he went all of the third and most of the 4th trying to hit jumpers which has never been his game. Driving the lane, which is his game and using his quickness to get to the bucket was working and he stopped just like he did in games 3, 4, & 5. part of that has to go to OKC and their defense but he did it again at will during the closing minutes of the 4th. I'm a huge Spurs fan, but OKC was just better.

  • Big fan of Jack. Love what he brings to the table.

Via Marc Stein of ESPN.com: “It sucks,” Jackson said after the media crowd around him dispersed, not quite believing that his near-perfect evening didn’t do more to stop the young-no-more Thunder from closing out the Western Conference finals. “But those mother——s,” Jackson quickly conceded, “were just better than us.”

And at all the Okies that love a Horn.

Someone else said this a few weeks ago, but KD should run for president. Who else could get Okies to call a Horn their favorite player and Texans to route for an OKC team?
