Sooners depth chart released

  • As anticipated Jarvis Jones lost his starting role. Did this guy hit his ceiling early or am I missing something else?

Fish Kenny Stills starting at one WR spot and Kenney at the other w/ Broyles in the slot

Allen holds off Bell for 2nd QB but they have said they plan on getting Bell in the game so we'll see.

Calhoun still hasn't cracked the two deep.

Curious how Tayloir is progressing as he is listed as the #2 DT. I would think if he were close they would go ahead and pencil him in as a #1 and if he's not, leave him off until he was.

McFarland (So) running 2bd team behind Stacey McGee (So). Is McGee that good or was McFarland overrated?

No real surprises in the back seven

  • They must be trying to send a message to McFarland and Taylor because they were both starting on their last depth chart.

Taylor is rumored to still be feeling the effects of his broken leg.
McFarland, well, he probably is just feeling the effects of the MBC.

    sleazy t

  • There is very little on that O-line that leads me to believe it is going to be considerably better than last year.

  • Who besides Bob Stoops is claiming that the DL is going to be better than last year? That sounds hilariously absurd as a notion.

    close to jumping

  • Apparently Taylor still isn't doing full contact.

That is probably the biggest storyline to watch for them. If he isn't 100%, thats crippling.

    MBarnett

  • Ryan Broyles returning punts and kickoffss in addition to catching 100 balls this year. Stoops sure loves to run his players into the ground. Can't wait for him to blame "bad luck" when he gets injured.

    Quarterback

  • The two times Murray was injured was on special teams.

It's why for the life of me I don't understand why Shipley was returning kicks last year. If you need starters returning kicks at Texas, then you have done a bad job recruiting.

  • interesting about Calhoun since we continue to hear every spring and summer that he looks like a beast from the reports up north. I guess he's not there yet.

  • Anybody notice the much hyped RJ Washington still hasn't made first team in three years?

All of the 2008 5*s from Texas have been busts: RJ Washington, Stephen Good, and Jermie Calhoun.

    Quarterback

  • It was learned today that Finch, the fish that was expected to contribute is in a cast for his ankle.

I think the olineman will be a player.

  • It hasn't even been 9 months since Taylor's pretty horrible broken leg. That he hasn't reached 100 percent is not remotely a surprise.

He's was making serious waves early on. Any time missed by him hurts. Freshman in need of experience and a different type of back than the others in the mold of Quentin Griffin, but a couple of inches taller.

Yes, I think the pronouncements of Good as a bust are a bit premature. O-Lineman generally need the most time to develop. 3 years in a program is normally when they begin to show what they can do. He's a RS-Soph this year and he played last year with a nagging shoulder injury. I'm waiting to see him this year before I start to call him a bust.

RJ Washington on the other hand from everything I hear has just never "gotten it". The people I've heard talk about him who are connected to the Sooner program say it's more about the space between his ears than anything. Him and Calhoun I just can't figure out. I thought they would both be scary good.

I heard something completely different on Washington. He showed up and was not strong at the point of attack and they are beefing him up. He still has great quickness,

  • Is it just me or is this the worst ou 2 deep in the last 10 years entering the season? They have a couple of solid players in Broyles and Travis Lewis but there's no one who really scares you like Adrian Peterson, Sam Bradford, Jason White, Greshem, G McCoy, Roy Williams, etc.

  • Tom Wort is a guy I want to see on the field. Loved what he did in high school at New Braunfels and saw him play a few times. Tough guy who can run and will strike people.
