  • Complete bullsh!t, I getting kinda tired of individuals coming before the betterment of the program in order not to hurt feelings. Case and for that matter Brewer's opinion should not have even been asked if they didn't like it they can go kick rocks!! I long for a coach that has a sack comparable to Saban or Miles this program could be reloading instead of rebuilding.

You offer Bo, no you recruit the hell out of Bo and tell case he will likely not get many reps in practice let alone a game and then your problem is solved. You have two viable options for next year in that scenario , instead you have one prayer that he takes the next step and that's it?

  • Case is not wanted by even UTSA or division 2 schools. Yet we the number 1 overall football program in country is stuck because of nepotism.

  • Yes. Mack said as much a week ago at his press conference.

Now if Case leaves between NSD and the summer Texas is screwed.

We are not screwed if he leaves. We gain because we don't have to see him on field. Lets hope we redshirt CB and let Overstreet Backup Ash. Please Case leave and open up scholley spot.

We're not screwed provided Ash progresses to serviceable and remains healthy next year. Overstreet can help with that by taking the beatings in the QB run game, and I suspect we'll see an expanded role for the wildcat package provided we can find the right triggerman.

But we are good and truly hosed if either of the first two conditions are not met.

Why are you dragging Brewer into this? If he wants to redshirt (which apparently he does) then having Wallace on campus would not be any different than having Ash here. A two year spread in class, with two years as starter if he is good enough.

Sorry prob. should have prefaced my rant with "if what has been speculated is true" and I agree this move could have only helped Brewers development and is a big reason why I am pro Juco QB.

However I did witness Brewers sister blow up about how they were none to pleased about him not being the only QB in this class when Overstreet was brought in. So I can see him throwing a hissy when/if asked about a juco guy. But my whole point was this program needs a staff that is - see problem -----> address problem and that's it not - see problem-----> make sure all the current player are ok with it so as not to alienate anyone.

I guess I'm just tired of all the kid gloves when it comes to the players and recruits. Seems like you get better results with tough love and hard nosed coaches. I don't remember all the prancing around how a certain kid is gonna feel back in 04,05,06. Maybe it was just the presence of guys like Studdard.

Ideally both Brewer and Overstret should red shirt. If Case leaves Texas I one play away from relying on a guy just out of high school, which would be disastrous.

Despite your venom, Case is a serviceable back up who did play well at times. He can continue that role next year.

  • Its not all bad. I'm as tired of the McCoy histrionics as anyone; but Case can be a decent back-up for Ash next year. He will be bigger and stronger next year if he buys into the S&C program. With the offensive talent we are going to have next year; he can be functional. The question is whether he changes his mind again and transfers out after spring practice. Presumably, Mack sat down with McCoy Sr. and had a come to Jesus meeting about this issue. If he transfers out , then he simply a POS.

Under this scenerio; Ash will receive the lion's share of reps during spring and 7 on 7. If Wallace had come in; then he would be splitting reps again and not getting the time he needs. Ash obviously has more upside than Wallace . He just needs the reps. Brewer gets to red-shirt; but starts receiving back-up reps as a red-shirt freshman and is completely ready to take over when Ash leaves or is hurt.

You're a pretty good poster, but your comment about Case getting bigger and stronger "IF" he buys into S&C, and then "presumably" Mack has a come to Jesus meeting with Brad is based on a lot of hopeful assumptions. If Case doesn't improve strength, footwork and lockerroom etiquette, and if Mack doesn't have that come to J meeting, nothing changes.
I don't agree that Case is a decent back-up. He is a good backup if he never has to see the field and keeps his mouth shut. I think the odds of both of those happening are slim. If he has to play key stretches of games, our offense will revert to lots of runs and dink and dunk. And there is definitely the possibility that he will transfer, POS of not.
Basically, if Ash gets hurt, get ready for a disappointing year. We had a chance to stay the same at worst, or possibly get a whole lot better. Tail is wagging the dog just like that poster from a week or so ago predicted. Anybody remember that? This became Case's decision, not Mack's. Mack caved.

That is 100% incorrect. Where do you guys get this stuff? Nepotism? I actually came over to 247 to have a refreshing place to read and post where the strange ones over at orangebloods roam. Can't get away.

neither are you. For goodness sake, we know he's not a D1 QB, but if he wants to be here and is going to be fine with being a backup, then let him be a goddamn backup. He's a viable option there. We aren't going to win with QB play like we did in the days of VY and Colt. We're going to win with our running game and our defense.
