There's no other way to put it, the Longhorns were embarrassed by the Sooners in the Cotton Bowl in their 63-21 loss. And there's plenty of blame to go around.

Remove manny as dc immediately and prepare to remove brown
Couldn't agree more Bobby +1
“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.”
He should have been shown the door after 5-7. We all saw it coming. People begged and begged to have GDGD and McWhorter fired for years. The damage is so bad that it's going to take a damn good head coach to fix it and multiple recruiting classes. That head coach isn't Mack. We cleaned house and gave Mack a free pass. He can't fix the mess he created and we need to go in a new direction.
We are officially Florida State under Bobby Bowden.
The thing I love most about this post is the constant mentions of Mack Brown.
The administration and big money donors, who have now allowed Mack Brown four blowout losses to Bob Stoops, should be embarrassed.
Brown has only won five total games against Stoops (5-9 overall). Brown's been blown out four.
The head coach and defensive coordinator deserve the blame.
Apparently a week after being exposed by the West Virginia two-back set, Mack Brown and Manny Diaz once again had no answer for the Sooner two-back set.
It's so basic yet Mack Brown and Manny Diaz can't seem to grasp how to defend it.
The offensive line is being exposed as underwhelming. Not a big shock considering how poorly Mack Brown and Mac McWhorter recruited the position.
Bobby - what do you realistically see happening after this disaster? I know everyone is calling for heads, but I don't see any changes being made until after the season. Can't believe we got this far in the hole. Reminds me of Lloyd Carr's last season
Mack should do the right thing and retire. His heart is not in it anymore. It has cost the university the opportunity to hire a hard nosed coach like urban meyer or Will muschamp. If Mack will not step aside then Diaz has to go. The defense lacks basic fundementals and mental toghness. It is not a coincedance that we beat OU twice and were competitive a third time with Will as the DC.
I'm kind of embarrassed we decided to give a guy a new contract for umpteen gazillions of dollars a year, watch him go become a draft analyst for ESPN in the spring, complain about complacency in the team in August, lose nearly every home game in the fall, and whine in the winter about deserving a bowl bid with a 5-7 record, and for the university to then think replacing the assistant coaches would fix everything.
Any news on Brandon Moore?
Anybody have Deloss Dodds phone number, I would like to give him a call
The offense needs to get over the notion that they are a power running team. They ought to stop running between the tackles unless they are running out the clock. The OL can't get an advantage in straight ahead blocking. Everything should involve pulling linemen and edge runs and traps.
If Ash is down for long, kiss this season goodbye.
Think what you want, but it is time for Mack to go! Mack has simply allowed UT to be humiliated by having no game plan or no execution to many times in big games especially against freaking ou. I think his recruiting of top notch players is extremely overrated and if I am wrong then the developing of the talent is even worse. I like Mack but we should never be destroyed by any team in the country especially ou who is just above average team.
I watched Brenham High School beat Montgomery last night. I saw two well coached teams- even saw a Leeks playing for Brenham. I saw tackling and blocking. I saw football. I suspect that one could give the Brenham coaches the talent that Texas has and give them 3 games to install their system and we would be seeing a much better football team for UT. We do not really need a Saban or a Boom. We just need a coach and staff that the players believe in. Mack has lost his players. They no loner believe. That is what is wrong big time.
You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
Never trust a man who only knows how to spell a word one way.
I hate even saying this but I hope Mack doesn't use the excuse of losing Ash for what is probably going to be a terrible season this year as a reason to come back next year. I believe a good coach can turn this team around next year.
Mack's the head guy. The buck stops with him.
He can't pass the buck on program-defining decisions.
- Ultimately, he's the one who didn't recruit Robert Griffin, not Larry MacDuff.
- He's the one who didn't recruit Andrew Luck, not Greg Davis.
- He's the one who dropped a successful offensive style in favor of one with less margin for error in an offensive league.
- He's the one who allowed Mac McWhorter and Bobby Kennedy to recruit players who were incapable of being quality football players.
I have been perhaps the biggest advocate for Mack Brown during his tenure in Austin. But this game was ridiculous from start to finish. There's no other way to put it.
If he doesn't see it that way and own up to it completely, then I disagree with him.
I like Mack Brown. I don't like how he coached or prepared his team on Saturday.
Four blowouts to OU.
