Saturday Throwback: Texas A&M 2011

In this historic meeting the Longhorns and Aggies traded blows until Texas' senior kicker Justin Tucker split the uprights as time expired to give the Longhorns a 27-25 win.

  • Hard to communicate how much that win meant....shoving it up aggy's ass was a thoroughly satisfying and delightful thing, indeed...how much it meant for the program going forward was a distant second but significant nonetheless....I love watching the replay of that game.

  • I really would've thought that Case would win some folks over with what he did in that game, but I guess some players are just destined not to be fan favorites.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

    We broke their hearts.

We ripped it out of their chests and we stomped it flat.

Texas beat aggy one more time for the last time.

He'll always be a hero for bringing the W home and making aggy cry. But, other than the one run he was mediocre at best...makes it more sweet...aggy couldn't beat us even with our pitiful offense and their golden boy with the rocket arm at the helm....good bye indeed aggy.

Bevo, that is one of the most accurate observations ever made on this board. Chris Simms could not have won the fans over short of having a Vince Young game for the national championship-with Ut winning. Fans have never accepted the fact that Major was hurt to the degree that he had only a few games left in him. I remain friends with the doctors and physical therapist who were treating Major and saw first hand the agony he was truly in [my wife was part of the medical team at the SHC]. We kept our mouths shut about it because Mack and Major asks everyone to. Major's efforts in those few games ranks up with Emmitt Smith's runs with a dislocated shoulder in just plain grit. Major was/is a hero of mine, but so is Chris.

I think he did win some over but lost them with that dreadful follow up performance in Waco.

  • A walk-off field goal, on their turf, to end a 100 year series. Can it get any better than that?

    Hooked,
The only thing better was being there, behind the goal posts and throwing the Horns up when the kick went airborne and looking at the WTF look in all their eyes... it was like someone had just broke it off inside them...
It doesn't get any better than that... It was Priceless!!! rockon

  • that aTm win was awesome. as aTm ran away from Texas as one scorned little b!tch for an even bigger guy, Texas gets the final word in. "okay, Texas, but let's leep the T+1 game alive." "forget it. now get out of my house you worthless slut, and don't come back." now they're extremely bitter at Texas. it makes 27-25 that much more sweet.

    Very well said.

I was fortunate enough to be at the Holiday Bowl for Major's last game - What an incredible victory.

  • On a side note, does anyone happen to have a copy of one David South's call of the game winning kick? I get a sick amount of enjoyment out of that blowhard's misery.

*edit...Just listened to the link from textex's thread. Thank you sir.

Sweet, but probably not as gratifying as listening to the very loooooonnnnnnngggg piece of dead air that followed their loss to Baylor a number of years ago.

  • Fun read with feeling nerves and all. McCoy's big run was on first down. I've probably watched it 25 times.

  • So many plot lines made that game one of the all time greats. The end of the rivalry, the poor coaching by Sherman and the walk off kick.

I mean, there is absolutely no way we deserved to come out there with a win. That made it even more poetic. A&M could not stop from tripping over their shoelaces in that game and allowed us to steal a victory without an offense whatsoever.

    Just, awesome all around.

the good news is they no longer have to worry about an opposing team storming the field after a win. at least not anyone of significance.
