Saturday Throwback: 2005 Oklahoma State

Texas needed a record-breaking performance from Vince Young to get past a 3-4 Oklahoma State team to keep its national championship dreams alive in 2005.

  • Was 2005 the year Vince made that 4th down impossible scramble at Kansas to keep that game alive ?

    Or was that 2004 ?

I remember that fat slob coach of theirs got so purple after that run I thought he was going to explode.

  • That Oklahoma State DB who Vince faked out on his 80 yard run is still looking for his drawers.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

Wasn't he actually the guy who went on to play for Denver that was killed in a shooting?

I remember the game very well. We gave our foundation tickets away but changed our minds at the last minute and ended up sitting in the middle of a home section. We were not treated very well during the first quarter. I have never seen a group of fans go from trash talking to exiting stage left so quickly in my life.

If you have not been to a game in Stillwater you should go. After the game you can camp out outside of the visitor locker rooms and meet all of the players. A very cool setup for a visiting fan.

The guy who was faked out was Donovan Woods, who played safety for OSU...He never played for the Broncos and as far as I know, is very much alive but believe he is out of the NFL...

  • Donovan Woods - QB of the future, moved to defense.

I was at the game, but can kick myself because I went out at half to alleviate thirst, and missed the play. Heard the noise, but missed it and had to wait for DVR to see it.

We've broken their backs several times with comebacks - something like three in a row as I recall.

    Play

VY's 80 Yard TD vs Ok State

On 3rd and 10, Vince Young uses perhaps the greatest pump fake in history to find a lane down the right sideline for an 80 yard touchdown

  • I was at deer camp and turned off the radio disgusted and went to the stand.I took an 150 class ten point that afternoon at the time my best buck came back to camp to find out my Horns won. That was a great day.

  • The joy of having VY was not having to sweat while being down in a game. He proved it on this night.
