SEC Approves A&M Application 10-2 / Hold the phone!

A&M announced late Tuesday a press conference scheduled today to announce their pending departure of the Big 12 to the SEC effective with the 2012 football season/school year.
Is this a shocker? Hardly. Now the fun begins as the rest of the big name schools in the Big 12 jockey for position. Where will we end up? Pac-whatever? Indy? ACC?
Update: Chippy Brown modifies his late night news as SEC voting to admit A&M is contingent upon the Big 12 "working out" the "mutual waiver of claims". Still, look for more updates from Aggie and posturing applied by A&M school attorney's today.

I assume y'all are referring to CBrown. Ultimately I guess it doesn't matter if it was 10-2 or 7-5. They're in now and we can move on.

Ok maybe we can't move on. Seriously this is bordering on ridiculous. I'm ok with this in the offseason but during the season I want to focus on football.
With that said I hope deloss and the admin are patient and don't rush into anything.

7-5 would have meant they wouldn't have gotten in I believe. Didn't they need 9 votes for acceptance?
I get what you mean though. I'm just happy all this stuff is coming to a close. Anxious to see where we end up.

If that is accurate than I'm suing if I'm Baylor. They look like the most obvious school left in the cold. Also at this point based on OU's actions I might encourage them to sue if I'm Texas.

Based on Sporting News, looks like Baylor may indeed be looking at pursuing legal actions.

I find it interesting that I haven't heard anything from the Big 12 commissioner lately, has anyone heard anything? You would think with everything churning right now that he would be trying to work something to hold the conference together.

I don't agree with suing really anyone over this, especially not OU. I have a hard time blaming them for looking at other options than trying to expand a dying, 9-team conference.
If anyone is going to sue anybody, I say let the smaller schools who are going to get left out of big contracts handle that.

Haha - texags is flipping out over Baylor "reneging" on their agreement not to sue. Days after A&M renegs on their agreement from last year to stay in the Big 12. Hey, no fair! They're backing out of their promise to not stop us from breaking our promise!!

My question(s) is this. If Baylor has a valid tortuous interefernce claim against A&M/SEC, would they not have a valid claim against OU etal/Pac 12, if OU et al bolted west? Also, if we (UT) jump ship, are we going to owe penalties to the remaining Big 12 schools? What happens to the penalty money from a&m? Do we share in that or will it go to the remaining schools? What about our obligations to FOX or whomever the current Big 12 TV contract is with; don't we, as a member of the Big 12, have significant contractual obligations with them? The more I think about this mess, the more complicated it seems. As one who always tried to be magnamous towards a&m, I think they have created many problems for many schools and I now hate their damn guts.

Nor do I. Anyone who has read this site carefully knows the two options are keeping the Big XII together or going to the Pac-16, and it looks like things are headed in the latter direction as Arky and ND aren't interested in joining the B12.

I didn't mean sue OU. I meant it is in their best interest to sue the SEC. Also, based on OU's actions I would encourage Baylor to sue the SEC if I'm Texas to slow everything down and keep the conference together a little longer.

Why on earth would Baylor agree to drop their threatened lawsuit given what the SEC said? Baylor is absolutely screwed if they drop it.
