  • Now that we have Hicks, do we look for another RB this year? With Brown, Gray and Joe, how much realistic playtime can another RB expect? How many top flight RBs can we play in any one given season? Hook 'em.

RB Dontre Wilson has been offered...will play multiple positions...RB/Slot WR...& I wouldn't be surprised to see RB James White still make a visit or 2 to Austin

As for too many RB's on campus...after experiencing 2008-2010, I accepted that you can never have too many on campus...having too many with the possibilty of a transfer is far, far greater than not having any legitimate running threat at all

After this past season when we lost top three in about 6 quarters , four or even 5 is not too many.

    Don't count Daje out either.

  • Would you rather have the three best RB outta ten RBs sharing the ball. Or your only three running backs sharing the ball. Best player is gonna play, remember Joe Bergeron was only a three star prospect and I think Major did a pretty good job with him. No one thought he would surpass Shead on the chart but he did as a frosh. I like having as many options as possible. If someone transfers that's fine because that means there is plenty more talent ahead of him.

  • But I fully expect Texas to sign two RBs this class

  • We'd better.

When Hicks arrives, we'll only have 5 on campus, Brown, Bergeron, Gray, Daje and Hicks.

Brown and Bergeron will be Juniors and it is very likely Brown and maybe even Bergeron are 3 year guys, certainly the case for Gray.

  • Texas has an offer out to Dontre Wilson as an all-purpose back.

If Texas does not land Wilson, look for them to go after a different type of player to fill that spot, one with a little more offensive-defensive versatility.

  • Didn't White commit to the Aggie's? I guess he might be open to visit if Wilson turns us down. Who else are we looking at ... Anybody?

  • We have more than five not counting hicks. Malcolm Brown, Joe Bergeron, DJ Monroe, Hills, Grey, Johnson, plus Chet moss is being groomed as a full back plus we have two additional full backs, obviously not that good of full back since I don't know their names plus we are converting a MLB to play their position (Moss)! So that's 9 RB not counting hicks, 10 with hicks!

But we won't have all of those by the time, as IDMAS noted, that Hicks actually arrives on campus. DJ, Hills, Johnson all gone, and Chet Moss is still a man without a real position who was brought in as an LB

IMO Ryan Roberson will get first crack at FB, followed by Barrett Matthews. I think it will take Moss a season or two to get it all put together.

Daje Johnson will not be gone....

  • There will be a minimum two years between Hicks and Brown/Bergeron. 3 if he redshirts. Take an elite back every year if you can so you always have one on campus. Don't recruit guys thinking they'll start 3 years.

  • He meant DJ Monroe. Well either way I am exited about our current running back situation too much depth is never a
Problem unless its with QB because people will argue QB position all day. Well he's a better passer yeah but he knows how to win. But we need a winner, it's an endless debate haha!

I was actually referring to CJ. I'm fairly certain Daje isn't on a one-year-and-done career arc.

White's not on Texas' radar with the pledge of Hicks. He's a downhill runner. If they take another guy, it's going to be someone with versatility.
