  • Durant has plenty of years left to get some rings. Might as well root for Duncan to get his fifth and retire like the Admiral.

  • Awesome article. Thanks for the link. It makes feel better about rooting for the Thunder to surprise the Spurs. What a battle is coming our way. Go Kevin! I want this kid to take the championship home. He is who young kids need as their role model. So is Duncan. He's just ready to pass the torch to a slightly, cough, cough, flashier youngster wearing a backpack.

Nope. I need KD to win as many rings as possible so he can have the MJ/UNC effect on Texas.

Can't ever root for floppers like Duncan and Manu.

They have more floppers than the Spurs.

  • Im a huge Dallas fan but I will admit that both teams have more floppers than Sea World. Pot meet kettle in this argument.

  • Yeah, I'm rooting for one more run from the old men. The Spurs represent the opposite of everything that is wrong with the NBA, and it's great to see a guy like Duncan get this chance so late in his career. I'll get on the OKC bandwagon soon enough, but not this year.

Haha, Duncan doesn't flop. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

  • So, I have a skeleton in my closet I need to put out there... I spent the first 18 years of my life in Oklahoma. I'm proud to say I was born in Texas. My dad made sure of that before we moved to Oklahoma for his job. I grew up hating the Sooners and counting the days until I would leave the sh*thole that is Oklahoma and head back to Texas. I swore I would never root for a team from Oklahoma. But... I am a huge Thunder fan. Ever since they moved from Seattle with KD, I've been hooked. Simply put, it's just hard to hate the Thunder.

  • So much for my original thought on "epic series". Spurs are incredible...their ball movement and ability to create space for their playmakers is as good as I can remember. Contrast to the Thunder dribble-fest is stark. This series may go 5 but I'm not seeing a Thunder win at this point.

It's easy to overreact in an NBA series but they often swing quite easily. Don't be at all surprised to see a Oklahoma blow out of the Spurs in game 3 and another win in game 4. Series will probably go 7. Pulling for Texas though, add to our state's NBA title totals. We got 7 right now, ahead of NY but trailing California's 12, with 11 of them Lakers. Boston puts Mass. well out in front with 16.

  • I don't know. I had been following the NBA minimally until this series and in watching OKC it seems they just aren't very cohesive ... they aren't coached up very well. San Antonio is such a tough, veteran club coached by the best in the business. I wonder if Scotty Brooks is going to be the one to coach the Thunder to a championship. It feels Doug Collinsesque. I think they need to find their Phil Jackson because Westbrook and Harden need some Zen action coming their way.

You make great points although it just seemed like the Spurs were winning the game almost with ease...like there was no way OKC was going to even be a threat. Could be a series still, I just don't see it tight mow. Ginobili and Parker combined with the supporting cast is going to be very tough to beat.

  • Thunder have to go to the FT line 30 times a game or close to it to win the series I think.
That game last night was close because of the FT disparity in the 4th quarter as opposed to the Hack-a-Splitter.
That is the key for them.
You saw how much better Harden played when he was able to get to the line.

Getting to the line more would definitely be a way to get back into this series but they're already averaging 30 FT attempts a game now. A big problem for the Thunder is they only have 3 guys that can score. Those guys are really good but they need a lot more. Those three combined for 88 points last night and the game really wasn't close. If the Spurs big three combined for 88 points, the team would probably end up scoring about 140 total.

There's always a chance that one or more of the Durant/Westbrook/Harden group goes nuts and makes everything and they win a game but I can't see them doing that consistently.

They only got to the line 23 times in Game 1.
If they can get to the line more than 30 times against the team who averages the least amount of fouls in the NBA then they can slow the pace of the game down and limit baskets on the break because the Spurs will be forced to go the full length of the floor each time.

Yeah I was talking about their average (23 in game 1, 36 in game 2). And to me neither game was really that close. They might have a game where they shoot 45-50 free throws and win but that seems like an anomaly.

  • I've always loved Durant but he only gave us one year where we were bounced in the 1st round. After this series I say Fuck Kevin Durant. Fuck the NBA

Well I guess that theory's shot! 17, 21, 23, 31 in the last four victories.....just messing with you, hoping for a heat/thunder final...could be epic...i think the thunder walk all over the celts
