Robert Griffin to the Redskins

This may be the worst trade I've ever seen in my life. Redskins front office once again shows their incompetence. The only reason I'm pissed is because the f'n Rams got away with highway robbery and they're in the NFC West. However, they have many more needs than a few first rounders can fill (obligatory that's what she said).

I don't know, bro. The Ricky Williams trade, imo, was the worst in NFL history. I love Ricky, but there's no kid out there that you should be giving that much for. Not one. There's never a sure thing because of injuries, headcases, etc.

Truly hard to believe that Andrew Luck (of Houston, TX) will be taken #1 & RGIII (of Copperas Cove, TX) taken #2 in the draft...& neither offered by The University of Texas

I believe RGIII was offered by UT but as a WR.

I get your point though :/

    The Redskins gave up more.....

in 1999 the Saints did not have a #2. So they ended up trading 8 picks for Ricky-

    1999

    #1 (12th overall)
    #3
    #4
    #5
    #6
    #7

    2000
    #1
    #3

    VS. 3 #1s and a 2 for RG3.

    Cancel out the first 2 #1's and you are comparing a very high # 2 this year and a #1 (in 2 years) vs. a 3,4,5,6,7 in 1999 and #3 in 2000

It really comes down to how much you value a bunch of late round picks this year vs. a #1 in two years. But I think a high #2 this year is worth a 3 this year and a 3 next year. That leaves 4-7 vs a #1 in two years. I would give up the back of my draft for a future #1 any time I could.

Also, baring injury, a RB should be able to help you a lot more in the first year than a QB. RG3 may not play much at all which could make those second 2 #1's more valuable.

I would rather receive what the redskins paid for RG3 than what the Saints paid for Ricky.

I think it was as an athlete, but still...

Thanks for the correction, Estrada. Personally, they'll both be top 2 in worst draft trades unless RGIII can somehow make an immediate impact, and Shanahan not suck like his usual self.

  • To move from 6 to 2 they give up two additional first rounders and a second round pick? What an absolutely terrible trade.

High draft picks are like gold now in the new CBA. Snyder is an absolute moron.

  • It is difficult to underestimate the value in the NFL of a Top 5 QB. If he becomes that, IMO this will have been a good trade. It he does not become a Top QB, this will set the Redskins back for years.

You have to believe they offered this same deal to the Colts and were turned down.
