So which kid do you want on your team: kid A or Kid B. Both kids have offers and are committed for a long time. Both have been told, a commitment is a commitment and if you waver, we waver.

Kid A comes to the coaches and says, coach, "I'm wavering." Coach says, "if you visit, your ship has sailed." Kid says, "this decision is just too important. I've gotta go visit." COach, "fine, but you no longer have an offer. thanks for your time."

Kid B - doesn't go to the coaches. Kid secretly goes on an official visit anyway without telling them. Coaches call, kid lies "nope, not visiting, thanks for checking." After the visit, kid says, "yep, I visited, but didn't like it. I'll keep on with the original deal. Good thing I didn't tell the coaches and give them a chance to pull the offer"

As long as we're gonna stack the hypothetical deck...

Which guy will still be standing at 'THE END' of the western:

Cowboy A is surrounded by Cowboys C through Z; he's worth millions of dollars; he owns more than half the land in 3 counties; and he's dressed in all-black except for the red satin waist coat accented by a gold Swiss pocket watch.

Cowboy B is a retired U.S. Marshall who moved to these parts to get away from his former life; he owns a small plot of land just on the outskirts of Cowboy A's spread; and he wears an un-buttoned, cow-hide waist coat and a white hat.

Those who can, do; those who can't, coach; those who never could, complain about the first two.

  • Do we really know why the split with TJ ocurred? I've heard lots of speculation, but very little else.

yeah i get your point. in light of how they handled hassan's situation, i think we were too stringent with TJ. i wish there was a way for a reconcile.

The other concern I have is that Ridgeway just created the new path to avoid the UT coaches' long held policy. There is no reason to believe this will not become the norm in the future.

Depends. Which one is played by Clint Eastwood?

In such matters I'd always go with William Munny

  • I could be wrong, but that is not my understanding of it. I thought the coaches called TJ and he said he was committed and would not be taking visits. Oregon trip was being rumored. Coaches made some calls and found out a visit was scheduled. At that pt they pulled the offer. In part, because they were told he would not be visiting. I think the breech of trust was the dagger that killed his offer. That is my understanding from the rumors I have heard. Like I said, I could be wrong

Does a similar breach of trust exist with Ridgeway? Why is one treated differently than the other? If anything, Ridgeway's infidelity is worse.

I say let em both back on board and have a big ol' party.

  • "Does a similar breach of trust exist with Ridgeway?"

No, because he was honest with UT's coaches about his second thoughts about visits. TJ flat out lied to UT about it, because he really was no longer interested in being a Horn. It was hookem.com that Ridgeway wasn't honest with.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

  • That is different from what I was reading. I was under the impression he told the coaches he would not go, then surreptitiously did so.

from my understanding, TJ was more straight up with the coaches than hassan.

I think what you were reading was a bunch of drama queens jumping to conclusions like there was no tomorrow.

A&M making a routine of going behind the backs of high school coaches would be a very good thing for us.
