Recruiting Committed Players

  • Is it just me or does it seem like there are more committed players continuing their recruitment and taking more visits than there ever has been? Perhaps I'm just more aware of it this year due to Mack's change in philosophy towards recruiting other teams' committments, which I love because Lord knows every other coach is still working on our guys. Regardless, it just seems like in the past I didn't hear as much about commitments visiting other schools. Sure, there was a player here and there, but this year it seems more like the norm than the exception.

What do yalls memories recall? Is there anyone that is NOT in favor of Mack recruiting committed players? (I don't know how you could be in today's landscape, but I suppose that there may be someone out there that thinks it is ethically wrong or something)

  • It's really no different on a national scale IMO. Texas is just situated differently this year.

I don't think anymore than normal. Just seems like it because we have decided that we are going to recruit to the last bell and if we have a need or an interest in another teams commitment then so be it. I like the change in philosophy.

  • Committed players taking all of their official visits?

    Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Interesting... Can you think of any coaches out there that shared Mack's previous philosophy? I would like to think that he wasn't the only one taking that stance.

  • I for one am glad to see Texas take a more aggressive aproach. Its to hard in this day and time to be the nice guy.Just like girls like bad boys these kids these days see nice guys as being week.SAD but true.We all know Mack is one of the good guys.

  • it does seem to be that away this year. I guess we just usually aren't envolved in the acquistion of committed guys, we have schools picking at ours. Maybe we have more 'ships to work with this year and in a normal year we would have been full and waiting just on a big time player or two and no room to entertain the idea of someone else.

A lot share his philosophy but not many can pull it off.
