Recruiting Bragging Rights for A&M

The Steelers signed the Aggie Vince Young back in January.

And of course aggiechip22 is forgetting "Sexy" Rex Grossman, who has more career starts, yards, and TDs in the NFL than all of those Aggie QBs combined.

so practice squad guys count? wow.

3 former qbs on nfl rosters? McGee and trannyhill are all I can think of

try one right now. McGee has been no better than third team at Dallas for the most part. Tanneyhill hasn't been drafted yet, but will be. probably in the second round. he was a starter for 1/2 of his SR year. alright, two. someone please tell me someone didn't just count Jerrod Johnson. i think he works for texags or the aggie websider.

here's their own list. the majoraty of the list of relevant players are Slocom players recruited in the 90's. http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=205239065

None of the 3 QBs will have had much success at A&M. Also, Florida when 7-6 this past year, same record as us, and there's so much unknown about our program right now, no one can accurately predict how we will fare the next 5 years.

I've got a wooden nickel that says your ags will never be higher than fourth place in the division and that may well be a stetch. You left because you couldn't compete in the Big XII, the SEC will dance on your dog.

  • Some of you don't get it.

Aggy is obsessed with Texas out of jealousy and deep seated (probably mostly subliminal) feelings of inadequacy.

Texas fans love to observe the pathetic train wreck that is quite often an apt description of Aggy out of a bit of schadenfreude. We should all be above that, but human nature being what it is, many, if not most of us, are not.

It saddens me that many here can't tell the difference.

they left because they were never getting out of the shadow of Texas. the Longhorn Network was the final straw. now their mission statement is they play with the big boys. "play" being the questionable term.

the SEC will not dance on their dog. they'll stomp on it, set it on fire while laughing, beat it more, piss on it, put gasoline on it, set it on fire again, tie it to the back of a pickup, and drive around in a rural ranch drinking shlitz.

aTm fans will be doing this but w/ slightly better looking ladies while watching "tu" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLYxRWjHzwQ

Indeed. Aggy football is an unfailing source of humor -

    1. Aggy tries to recruit player X, but player X signs with Texas. We are amused.

    2. Aggy tries to recruit player X, but player X signs with someone else. We are amused.

    3. Aggy tries to recruit player X, player X commits to Aggy but then decommits. We are amused (x2).

    4. Aggy tries to recruit player X, player X commits to Aggy and signs with Aggy, and then has to spend 4 or 5 years in Collie Station. We are amused.

  • 5. Aggy hires coach who is a better gameday coach than Stoops and a better recruiter than Mack. 0-77 vs OU. We are amused
    6. Aggy hires coach from NFL who knows how to spot and develop talent. Kids that want to play in the NFL will flock to Aggy. 14-18 vs Arky State. We are amused.
    7. Aggy hires a coach with a gimmicky offense and zero defensive skills to run roughshod over the SEC. We are amused.

  • I do wonder though since they really are now insignaficant at all levels - to UT, Football, State of Texas, Football, and all other sports - does threads like this keep them going? We continue to show or express interest and to be honest I am not sure why?

You are absolutely right. I started this thread after I said publicly that I would never talk about them again. The fact that their domination of the three star recruits was the only reason they were ranked higher than UT in recruiting just really got under my skin for some damn reason. I promise to do better. I DO know that none of the stars or recruiting rankings mean a damn thing really. It's like how many times do you wear your high school letter jacket on campus in college?

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

  • I have resisted opening this thread for several days, but after seeing it has grown to three pages, I looked. I for one have stopped paying attention to a&m, because otherwise we are playing right into the hand of the SEC. They don’t care why people are discussing them, they just want the attention it brings good or bad. Also, I am not going to watch any of their games on TV, because even if I am watching and hoping they lose. The SEC will be getting the increased rating they want for whatever the reason. The additional exposure will also help their recruiting.

  • Bevo52...I was just making a general statement and was not particularly pointing you out! I really feel that if we flat out start ignoring them and concentrate on our real rivals they will start to understand the errs for their way! Of course, that may take years!
