Recruiting Bragging Rights for A&M

  • I think its time to put a&m behind us as far as even bringing up topics.I for one was heart broken when they went to the Sec.I think it will fade in time but I loved playing them year end and year out.I liked the jawing back and forth every year leading up to the game.I now could care less who they recruit unless it directly effects the recruiting efforts of the horns.

Good point. I think of him as decommitted but that's not technically true.

Bragging Rights for A&M That has to be an oxymoron

biggrin Oxy and Moron are just code words for their president of a&m and athletic director. Can't fix stupid, but it is consistent with their "brand" !!

The lad seems positively giddy about the Florida offer. He also seems mighty proud of his budding relationship with the Florida QB coach. Looks to me like he might be another one of the kids that mysteriously lose their "Sumlin scholarship".

Maybe you should start a campaign to get your mods to remove Gibson from your commit list?

  • Not sure where you guys are getting info on Gibson. He is still committed to A&M and is not looking around. He's trying to get his life in order. He tried transferring schools and is now back at his original school. If anything, he won't qualify. I wish the kid well; he looked like a stud his sophomore year.

Also on Kohl, I'm a friend of his cousin's. He is an Aggie through and through. His only risk is pro baseball (which is a big risk). He's a 17 year old kid. Who wouldn't like the attention when you get offers from big name schools?

I am sure you are right that Kohl is an aggie through and through, but we've seen business decisions before. As to Gibson, my source is WithoutRecourse.

Serious question, why would Florida be a better business decision? 3 former A&M QBs will be on NFL rosters next year, and our new coach and OC orchestrated a very prolific offense last year. Florida is no doubt a better program, but do they have any QBs in the NFL not named Tebow?

You said his commitment is shaky which implies that's by his choice. If his commitment is shaky, it's because his scholarship's existence is. He's not been on campus since Sumlin's hiring and was not invited to either of the junior days. I would imagine the contact between him and Sumlin, assuming there has been some, is general an non-committal from the A&M side. You'll notice that there has not been a single article offering his first hand experience with Sumlin since he took the job. He is the only the only recruit in the '13 class whom that can be said about.

Kohl will be an Aggie or will be playing baseball professionally. If you've followed any of my posts, you'll recall that I do not consume kool-aid of the maroon variety. In fact, I'm not even a glass half-full of maroon kool-aid kind of guy.

You have to look at success as well. A$M will be in the basement at leaset for a half decade in the SEC and it's hard to go to the NFL when you don't win ball games.

None of the 3 QBs will have had much success at A&M. Also, Florida when 7-6 this past year, same record as us, and there's so much unknown about our program right now, no one can accurately predict how we will fare the next 5 years.

With new coach, your NFL bound talent loss from this year and playing in the SEC with that schedule I would say my prediction is more accurate than assuming the opposite will happen.

    No, we don't.

Uhhh, yeah... we do. Over 90 percent of our commits were offered by A&M.

As to your usage of "we" in your "Why do 'we' care?" post. What's the deal? You got a rat in your pocket, or do you just like to fall in line with or influence what other people may be thinking?

Why do you care? That'd be better. You don't. Good. Now those of us that do can go without your "why do 'we' care" posts in these threads.

Both fanbases are interested in the other's program. Obsessed is a stupid word aggy throws around to try and demean Longhorns posting on their website. The only thing dumber than debating this is posting on these threads with some sort of self-righteous bullshit take about "not caring." You don't care? Fine. Don't post on the thread. Pretty simple. Trying to influence others to follow your lead as if it the most correct course of action just stinks of self-righteous arrogance and disapproval. In short, save it.

Puh-lease, son! Don't even begin to pimp A&M as some sort of surefire stop on a fast track to the NFL. That's just kidding yourself beyond reason.

Are you serious? So you are saying that his commitment is not shaky, but if it is, then it is solely because he doesn't have a committable offer from Sumlin? Umm, aggiechip, I have no source. Just someone that is making it up as he goes along.

well said. We have been rivals for a century. Strong rivals. for times, (not OU strong rivals but close quite often in intensity to that)
remember last year when that kick when through the goal posts (see, you know the one i am talking about without even giving a month for the game). That may have ended us playing them (with SCOREBOARD aimed in the correct direction). But it did not end feelings, any more than a serious divorce means no more feelings, good or bad.

We have just handled the money matters of that divorce, but we will be dealing with the fallout for the rest of our lives.

We are by the way clearly after the same kids. (by that i mean A*M wants ours, they can have theirs)
but that might change. If they get real good, win a NC or two, maybe Sumlin becomes a Texas hero and kids want to go there.

But recruiting is a big deal in this state and we pay attention. And Aggie and us "Sips" will be paying lots of attention to each other for a long time.

those of you who choose not to do so, feel free

A&M has outstanding recruits and can lose with them.

The Steelers signed the Aggie Vince Young back in January.

And of course aggiechip22 is forgetting "Sexy" Rex Grossman, who has more career starts, yards, and TDs in the NFL than all of those Aggie QBs combined.

I can. No better than 6 wins anytime in the next 5 years. No better than 5 wins, the next 2 years.
