RSJ/Swoopes

  • WildBill71 said...

Strong possibility that Swoopes never throws him a single pass in college whether he goes to Texas or not.

2013 - Swoopes redshirt, RSJ plays 2014 - Swoopes RS Fr, RSJ sophomore with Ash as a senior 2015 - Swoopes RS So and fighting Brewer (RS Jr), Overstreet (Sr), and whoever the 2014 guy is, RSJ a junior 2016 - Swoopes may or may not be the QB, RSJ may or may not still be in college

And that doesn't even factor in the fact that his ceiling is higher on defense and that he is probably a better defensive player in high school (instincts, and that is saying something) already.

    So you're a no then?

I have no information but I tend to think it's Briles and that low-life Baylor basketball coach.

Baylor is an Addidas basketball school. LSU is Nike. I believe RSJ plays for a Nike AAU team. I have a very strong reason to believe this is pushed by AAU influences. And the push is to LSU.

    aren't we Nike as well?

Yes we are, but there is a difference.

Also, consider the new LSU coach. He played at LSU under Dale Brown. He also was an asst under Dale Brown. Dale knew how to play the recruiting game very well.

  • I believe I remember a post somedtime back where mommy was very involved. Maybe we need to have Sallie send a care package to Sealy.

I've been a Cody Thomas fan since before this class started getting filled. I don't like the idea of going after a guy that looks like he is suited for the spread option when we're supposed to be transitioning to a power running team. I wasn't before, and am still not sold on the Swoopes take, however with all of that in mind, I still think this thread is dumb.

I think its a legit thought, I mean no one saw a decommitment coming from him. Its not far fetched to think he changed his mind about swoopes. I personally like swoopes, I was just throwing it out there to see if it crossed anyone else's mind

The AAU team he plays for buys from Nike but isn't exactly sponsored by Nike, the only real Nike teams in Texas are the Houston Hoops, Texas PRO and Team Texas. RSJ plays for the Rytes Warriors.

  • I thought he played for Texas Pro? If he plays for Rytes Warriors I'm not sure that coach has the pull, influence, or connections for things people are insinuating.

They are not a big player on the HS scene. They are a great youth AAU program, but usually their teams are taken by sponsored teams as they get closer to HS.

It is far-fetched. Not to say that it would not cross the mind of some depraved, delusional fan posting on this board, however.

  • Or maybe RSJ is secretly working on getting Swoopes to commit to LSU with him!!!

    panic

I think some of your guys may be over thinking this just a bit...

Its actually a weird deal as the Rytes Warriors 17U team that RSJ plays for is the majority of the Texas PRO 16U team he played with last year. If RSJ was playing with Texas PRO he would've played in the EYBL which he didn't. I don't know who the coach of Rytes Warriors is but I don't think he has the pull to do some of the stuff thats being insinuated either.

That's right, I remember hearing that now that you mentioned it. I don't know who the coach is off the top of my head. I know the Director of the whole organization, but he doesn't strike me as a dirty AAU guy. He's more about building a good program and spreading the Rytes brand.

  • OU is now in the mix. He can play basketball and football here and we have some very good QBs on our roster and commited.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

"Buffy Seals-Jones told Hookem.com that Texas is still in the mix for her son. Seals-Jones is expected to visit Texas A&M soon, sources tell Hookem.com, while LSU will also provide Texas with some tough competition.

Also in the mix for Seals-Jones, according to his mother, are Kansas, Kentucky, SMU, Baylor and Cal."

Apparently you know more about this situation than his mother.

That's it. Bruthaman is RSJ's mother. Now I get it.
