  • Bobby poked the bear yesterday and we see this today? Just how bent out of shape did he get?

  • If is say Chip Brown is a douche who can't string together a coherent thought on the radio, is that ok?

This board has a great rep for intelligent and insightful discussion, let's keep it that way.

I don't know where you heard that from, but prior to joining I found the rep to be a great site to get the best analysis and info but the board and discussion were lacking a lot due to cliquish behavior with a small poster base.

No, that would be name calling.

It would be something like "Chip Brown exhibits douchy behavioral characteristics and/or looks and can't string together a coherent thought on the radio. "

You're welcome to your opinion, but I just don't think it adds much to the conversation here.

He'll always be a big ol' teddy bear to me.

Jesus Christo, Burton. Ketchum is so thin-skinned (no reverse pun intended), I can't see how you would have thought it would be taken in jest. The guy bristles at even the slightest slight even after all these years. C'mon man, it's pretty hard to believe this was all in good fun.

Just curious . . . is he making a reciprocal request on Orangebloods?

I am a member of both boards. I saw a a post Ketchum made in response to other posters citing the twitter feeds.

This is my opinion, but a lot of this "competition" or "ill will" seems to be fed via the subscriber base. It's a bit ridiculous that this has reached the point where Burton needs to pin a post stating what he has said.

These are Texas football/sports news sites. No one goes bezerk if someone uses Yahoo! Sports vs. ESPN vs. 247sports vs. CBS Sports vs. whatever else is out there.

I also think it is a bit sad that Burton and Ketchum have known each other for so long and have worked together, and now, the relationship seems strained [to an outsider/observer]. I hope that I am incorrect.

Oh. Well in that case I defer to you Mr. Shakespeare. :)

I certainly started it in fun. I thought what I wrote was funny. He didn't really take it that way because I think it was compounded by other things he had been feeling/thinking regarding the situation on the whole.

In the end, it's all pointless.

This is Longhorn football and recruiting. To me, it's about as fun as anything can be. And that's how it should be, not anything else.

I agree, but everyone loves drama on the Internet because it's somebody else and not them dealing with it. It's like a movie

While you are actually 100% correct, I realize that for years I have largely tried to ignore the crowd you discuss.

yes they are here, yes they can be annoying but as the board has grown, they have become easier to "read over" so to speak.

Perhaps I am envisioning a board where the discussions rival the quality of the work of Gerry Jeff Walker bobby Allen Dave etc etc.

86 upvotes, none down. Good job all.

  • Kudos Bobby. Like I said over there, in a nutshell, it was getting old. The "us vs them" stuff has to go.

Focus on content and do what you do and you'll have your customers and he'll have his (many of the same people) and leave it at that. Just my $.02.

  • Bobby,

You sir are a class act, way to go and be proactive with the issue!

Never understood the whole Ketch hate thing; it does no one on this board any good and it is a waste of time to be frank. Especially to those of us who have never had any association with the Orangebloods site.
I have never been a paying member of a Longhorn site till I joined Hook'em.
I got hooked the first day and quickly realized I love recruiting. So thank you ALL for the quality input!

  • I, personally, have never said anything about ketch. My main concern, however, is losing the freedom of speech. Profanity is something that i can see being asked to not happen. But most people who write actually pay to voice their opinions! Attacking Ketch as a person is wrong, but just like the athletes he covers and evaluates, his work can and will be weighed and criticized. If he cant handle that then maybe he's in the wrong business. Thats just my opinion. I mean no disrespect to bobby or anyone who immediately agreed with him. Its just sad that freedoms are being removed because everyone wants to be politically correct.

And if you want to say anything personally to me PM me! Please!

While true that he (and Bobby, Gerry, and Jeff for that matter) leave themselves open for criticism, I'm not sure how having 5 threads a day about what is happening on OB helps make this a better board.

  • THats 5 different people expressing their opinions. If they dont want that then make this a free site and they can control every aspect of it. But dont take people money and then tell them they cant criticize another authors writing. They put it on here because they want to believe people think the same way they do. They same reason we subscribe to this site. Lets not be blind. Aggies are criticized just as much. First its ketch, then it will be dont say mean things about aggies, then what next?

I wasn't saying I feel it's that way, I was giving what I read when I was doing some research on this site to see if I wanted to try it out. It's just a rep that's out there, good or bad, but I think the board is evolving a bit into some nice discussion topics like the recent ones on RSJ and even the Barrett no offer thread.

As always though the big draw here is the info and analysis and that is spot on. I've been impressed.
