Please keep me in your thoughts

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you KP.

  • Haven't been there, done that, but my wife has, and I just went through it with a family friend. It is an individual experience.

Prayers for you and your family.

  • Cherish the things you always shared; love and memories. I'll be thinking about you.

  • Hang in there man. The reality is it will be tough. I'm thinking of you now and will continue to do so.

I just got a call from my mother. Hospice care has advised us to come say our goodbyes. My dad isn't going to make it to the weekend. I'm on my way to have my final conversation with the man who taught me to be a man. Please keep my family in your thoughts.

    May God give comfort.

Sounds like your dad -- and biological has zero to do with a man being a dad -- will be leaving a hell of a legacy.

Not sure if your are the religious type, but I am. I've experienced an unusual amount of loss in my 35 years. There is a CS Lewis quote that comforts me a great deal when I think about all the loved ones I've lost:

“If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desire not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures ... we are like ignorant children who want to continue making mud pies in a slum because we cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a vacation at the sea."

    2 Corinthians 4:16-18

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

16 Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

17 For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

18 Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.
