Players' post-game comments -- Jinkens, Monroe, McCoy

  • A few select players talked to the Texas radio broadcast crew after the game.

It just feels good to play....I was hyped at first, but then I came down and made a few plays. Overall I probably could've done a little better so I've got to go back and watch film and see what I could've done better.

It was pretty hard (trying to slow Collin Klein). He's pretty big and pretty quick. He's pretty patient finding his holes...He's a real good player. He's tough beyond question so I just had to do my best.

It would be big (to play in his hometown in the Cotton Bowl). I'd et to see my family again and they'd come to see me play. That would be good.

On finally getting in on the action:
We've got to be mentally tough. Nobody can see us get frustrated over simple plays. Plays come and go we play strong, we finish strong. If we're up or we're down we just have to keep playing as Texas running backs. That's just what we do.

On getting one more game with the bowl:
It means a whole lot to me to be honest with you. I must leave Texas with a win. I will not leave with a loss. Texas has been great to me and I want to leave the university with a win.

I thought our team fought hard. I thought our offense hung in there and fought hard.... I thought our defense played well, we just put them in bad situations with turnovers...Obviously that's on my shoulders, I threw two picks....Once again we drove down the field and scored at the end so I thought we played hard and finished well, but you can't have turnovers like we did. If we keep that effort into a bowl game I think we can win.

    On his first touchdown throw:
That was a call that we had been working on...They sniffed out the tight end and I was able to squeeze it into Jaxon (Shipley).

It was such a low scoring game at halftime, but they made some good changes at halftime and executed them as well...It became a shootout and we needed to run with them and we did for the most part but we had a couple stalls.

He just made a good play and it's just some things I have to learn...That's a hard one to bounce back from but I thought we did, we went into the halftime with the lead....We've got to live with that tonight and know that (turnovers) was one of the big factors.

This kid did a fantastic job today for the most part. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the future

No doubt. Looks like we have a great linebacker on our hands for the next several years.

Wish he could have gotten more touches throughtout his whole career. "one trick pony" or not he produced when he had the ball in his hand which obvious on a team that lacked playmakers.
