Not that I really care what this guy thinks, but that's a pretty ridiculous thing to say IMHO.

Well, considering the writer doesn't know why Mack pulled the plug on the RSJ recruitment, it really doesn't matter what he thinks, does it?
And if the reason for the plug-pulling is because there are certain types of games Mack and Texas simply will not play, that works for me.

also, if Texas wasn't a "big-time program", it wouldn't have the luxury of walking away from a talent like RSJ only to turn around and sign another blue-chip prospect.

The writer doesnt have a clue, and surprised to see that Mike Farrell doesnt either. Of course SEC teams wouldnt back off a talent like RSJ, even if his coach or his dad asked that bags of money be delivered to him at his high school. There is nothing but presumption with no information in that article. Rivals annoys me to no end

Mike Farrell is a HUGE reason why that place has gone to shit. Outside if the entertainment value of the mainboard, the entire rivals network is pretty useless.

This is stupid and lacking logic. It could be worked in both ways. Would a big time program back off a big time receiver or beg him? We do not beg and we showed it! Proud of Mack to go the good route. All the bad things come out one day or another. I would much rather play fair, work hard, and win championships! Rather than cheat, win championships, and have them taken away later on (cough, cough, USC... cough cough, Auburn, cam newton pay for play.... cough, cough, alabama, nick satan in the near future.... cough, cough, SECHEATS!!)

Hilariously the paragraph concerning RSJ comes under the heading "Deep Thoughts."
I would think depth of thought would require some discussion of the possible rationale rather than positing the superficial question whether SEC or USC would back off a talented kid.

I'd rather have Rhodes than RSJ anyway unless he realized he should be playing Tight End or Defensive End.

Yeah, it's exactly the opposite. Texas can walk away because it's big enough to absorb the "loss," not because it's out of its league.
