I'm not saying it's necessarily our fault, but how can fans expect a kid to feel an attachment to the team/school and therefore stay more years when the arena is half empty for every game?
look, I'm not naive...I know the number one reason why kids decide to leave is the money. but I feel that these kids are influenced by several other things as well. for instance, comfort at the school, wanting to come back and compete for a national championship, feelings about the city, coaches, fans, etc...

I never expected Kabongo to stay longer than a year and if he decides to change his mind I would be as shocked as I was watching him play this year. With all they "hype" this kid was bringing with him, I saw an AVERAGE point guard at best. He was very indecisive with the ball throughout the year and dribbled himself into trouble more than he made a play off the dribble. He would benefit greatly from an extra year but I can't be down on a kid who can get to the NBA.

If Bradley, Joseph and Kabongo had played like 5 star talents then Texas might have advanced further in NCAA tournaments.

I think that's what hurts the program more than anything. Barnes is trying to do the Calipari/Kentucky thing (I'm talking on the court) but his big time recruits haven't panned out for the most part (relatively speaking). Durant is obviously a big exception but that hasn't been the norm. If Bradley/Joseph/Kabongo played like top 10 talent, the one and dones wouldn't be that big of deal. Having players leave early isn't a problem if you replace them with productive players. It's a tough cycle to maintain and probably why only a handful of schools can do it.
And once "unproductive" players leave early, there starts to be a perception of something being wrong with the program which obviously reflects poorly on the head coach regardless of what the reality is.
