I dont know about ringside observers they spoke to, but the ones Max Kellerman spoke to that he said were very well respected in his eyes said that Bradley won. Now, perhaps Max doesnt know what hes talking about either, but when I watched it with no sound, the fight looked to reflect what I saw on the scorecards. They were all pretty close, so its not like one judge was way out in left field with a score. It was 115-113 across the board, one for Paq, two from Tim. I dont see conspiracy.

Been crazy busy and didn't realize that they were showing it ahead of the Chavez Jr. Fight and missed it. Will set my DVR and try to watch this weekend.
Chavez jr. is a beast, by the way.

Totally agree on the decline of speed fighters. I think Roy was the worst because he got away with so much that once his speed left he was barely average because of this lack of technique.
I think Martinez may have a little longer shelf life since he came to boxing much later than most pro fighters. I can't think of too many elite fighters that came to the sport that late in life.
Read a great article by Chris Mannix in SI where he questioned whether or not Mayweather-Pacquioa is really going to that great of a fight in 2013 or whenever. Both guys are on the decline, although I think Manny's has as much to do with lack of focus as age. Regardless, I totally agree that we won't be seeing both guys at the pinnacle of their game. Going to be a big pay per view fight but not what it would have been a couple of years ago.
I disagree about Manny needing to be the one to sign the contract. IMO, Floyd has been playing this like a seasoned politician, doing things for optics with nothing behind them. He's put in poison pills at every turn. First drug testing, which Pac finally agreed to, then it was another issue. Now he wants the majority of the purse. On and on it goes. If I was him I'd feel pretty confident in fighting Manny after his last two fights. He couldn't finish Bradley, which he would have done easily a couple of years ago and then marquez. Marquez is a bad style match up for him, but Floyd is better counter-puncher than Marquez, even though Marquez is one of the best ever.
Canelo will destroy Ortiz, IMO. Not sure on Chavez-Martinez, due to Chavez's size and continuing maturation as a fighter. Certainly going to be a good one. Martinez negated Paul Williams' size advantage, so it may not be as much of a factor, but I think Chavez is much stronger than Williams' was. if Cotto and Canelo fight, i have Cotto at this point in their careers.
If there is a Mayweather-pacquioa fight, Floyd will probably do a fight to keep the rust off, not idea who that would be. Pacquioa has to fight Bradley again so we're not going to see that fight until may/June 2013 if it happens at all.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

I figure June next year too. They think like businessmen though, so IMO, they will pick Cinco de Mayo and put a really good undercard on the sheet with a mexican/puerto rico rivaly match. Dare i say Canello/Cotto? If they dont meet this fall, look for it then.
Notice we havent said one thing about heavyweights? That totally sucks.

Heavyweight division is dead. I tend to like Super Middle down to lightweight, more speed and skill and still some nice power. After the Golden Era of Ali-Frazier-Foreman there hasn't been much of excitement other than Tyson at his peak. Holmes came a little too late or too early depending on how you look at it. Hugely underrated.

Holmes was very good. Probably one of the best ever but he was following Ali and its tough to top that. There is hope though for the American Heavyweights. Some ex-DE from Michigan State is now boxing and is proving to be very good at it so far. Got rocked in his last fight, shook it off and knocked the guy out. I forget his name. Outside of that, its a bunch of bums. Klitko is going to be a tough out for anyone with that reach he has.

I dont know, but it is becoming the big fight day.
Klitschkos styles are boring and then they fight undersized, outclassed boxers too. Maybe they are that good but when Lewis retired, I havent seen anyone with a snowball chance to beat either of them. NBC had a guy fight last week and he looked pretty good, but he would get KOd too. America is void of a dominan heavyweight. I have a guy in my gym fight in the Jrs this week so maybe we will see some talent there. Hes too big for his height so I expect him to just be ok. He can hit hard, but can be baited in too easily. As a light heavy, i shouldnt be makeing him back up with brute strength alone and Im old in fighter terms.

With how corrupt the sport of boxing is from crooked promoters, judges and incompetent commissions on top of scandals like Margarito and Resto(Assault in the Ring). I can't blame Floyd or any boxer for that matter for making their opponents jump through hoops to make sure everything is on the up and up as images of Billy Collins, Jr and Miguel Cotto(during the first Margarito fight) will forever be burned into my memory.
I've felt for some time that the sport may not want the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight to happen because the sport as a whole may be dead afterwards. Canelo, Chavez and I guess Khan would be the only guys that people would care to see and neither of them are marketable enough to carry the sport in the states IMO.

Both Mayweather & Bob Arum have been dancing around this fight as both believe there is too much money to be made to fight eachother. Yeah, they'd make a killing in fight one but Mayweather just made +$40 million fighting a twice defeated Cotto. And Pac/Arum continue to rake in mega dollars fighting guys that Arum knows Pac will beat. The longer they push the fight back(if it ever happens) the better for them but terrible for the sport. People will still pay top dollar to see the fight even if they don't fight for another 2-3 yrs and they'll have each made a couple hundred million during that time span.

Couldn't disagree more. The only way arum makes more is if manny fights another one of arum's fighters. Manny makes the most money fighting Mayweather. Mayweather may have made 40m fighting Cotto but he'd make at least 20m more fighting Manny.
You assume both guys want to continue to fight that long. Floyd is such a good business man he's set for life. Manny has his eyes on high elected office in the Philippines and he's set as well with his boxing purses an endorsements. Neither guy is going to fight much longer. And in 3 years, this fight isn't worth near what it would be worth or would have been worth a few years ago.
Manny getting robbed to go along with his performances declining have already started to take some luster away. What's that look like in a few yrs.
There is no couple hundred million for them fighting other people. Who will they fight that the public will be interested in? Make no mistake the big money comes from casual fans and non-fans who want to see the spectacle, not the true boxing fan. There are only two guys who can do that and their window is starting the close.

Not in any one fight but if Mayweather is getting more than $40 million to fight today, he can fight 4 or 5 guys that are decent & get that, then fight Pac for the major payday in addition to the money he's already made. Once they fight eachother the demand to see either greatly fades & its already faded some with the Bradley/Pac decision. You also said that Arum only makes more if Pac fights one of his guys...isn't Bradley one of his guys??

Re:Arum. My point there was that if Manny emphatically tells Arum to make the fight, he'll make it. Arum gains more than Manny in that scenario. Manny hasn't done that to this point which is on him. Arum has much more incentive to make a Pacquioa-Bradley fight than any other, it's already been mentioned in this thread. Out of his last 10 or so fights there are three Top Rank (Arum's promotion) fighters. None of them were that big. His biggest fights, aside from Marquez, were against Golden Boy fighters. I understand the point you are trying to make, i simply don't agree with it.
From what I can tell neither Floyd or Manny want to have 4-6 more fights. That's 2-3 years worth of fights by their current schedules. Their skills have already started to decline a bit, what will they look like in 3 yrs? If they have a great fight people will pay to see a second. If they split two great fights people will pay to see a third. I highly doubt it plays out like that, but if they had done this in 2009, I think it would have.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
