First off, all you guys lucky enough to make the trip to Oxford will have a great time. There is no hospitality like southern hospitality and the folks in Oxford have it down to an art form. Absolutely great game day environment. And the scenery ain't bad either.
I posted this on another thread but will recite here as well. I like Texas fairly big in this game. The Horns ran a purposeful offensive scheme in the first two games. I can't shake the feeling that Texas knew they could out-athlete Wyoming and UNM and designed the packages to work on specific parts of the playbook. The defensive game plan was likewise pretty vanilla with not much in the way of the exotic packages we've come to love Manny Diaz for.
This game, I think, will be much different. This is a prime time, nationally televised night game against an SEC opponent (on the road) that should draw lots of attention nationally. I think this is the game the wrapper comes off and we get to see what this offense--and defense--will really look like. They are playing a team very much in transition (new coaches, new schemes, and personnel that don't fit). Hugh Freeze is a good coach and at first glance, Ole Miss looks to be a much improved team. While that may be true, Ole Miss is not built to take down Texas. They are very light on defense and will be facing a Texas team that has fashioned itself into a downhill rushing attack with nasty attitudes on the o-line. Dom Espinosa won't be pushed into the backfield this game, and his quick feet will work to his advantage (and that of Texas). Texas has speed galore and once the Ole Miss defense gets leaned on some, the Texas speed will become a significant advantage.
On defense I expect we'll see Manny turn the dogs loose. Ole Miss now fancies themselves a spread offense. You know, the kind that proliferate the Big XII. Texas is tailor-made to defend this type of attack with quick and aggressive playmakers in the back seven. I think Ole Miss will have trouble holding the point of attack and that Bo Wallace will spend a great deal of time out of the pocket. He may be a good athlete but having to throw on the run isn't a recipe for long-term success. Especially against a unit with the speed Texas possesses.
I don't think this one will be another slow start for Texas. I suspect they come out guns blazing and looking to put it away early. Again, this is a statement game and the game plan we see should reflect that.
42-17, Texas

Last month I did my annual regular season score predictions and for this game, I came up with 34-13, Horns. For many of the same reasons ChampKind alluded to, I am tempted to add a couple of UT TDs, but I will stick my original pick. Malcolm Brown busts loose this week.
