  • Irby is H-Back instead of TE?

  • The tight end, h-back, and full back depth lend some insight into our character in the power sets. Really excited to see where we are at in terms of blocking from those positions... probably the biggest X factor on offense.

  • If your scoring at home....

17 members of the 2011 recruiting class listed, including walk-on K Ben Pruitt.

Only members of the class not listed at all on the depth chart are Garrett Greenlea, Marcus Hutchins, Taylor Doyle, MJ McFarland and Chet Moss.

  • So Whaley at DT? Did we even hear of any reports of him working there?

True freshman at back up FS? I thought Phillips would slide over there.

Edmond really going to fill MLB in Keenans absence or will Hicks or Acho slide over and then Cobb enters?

    Luke really a guard now?

Yep, we mentioned him working at DT

I saw that and I know that it's been discussed, but seeing it really makes me believe that I'll be able to count the number of redshirts on one hand this season.

    close to jumping

  • Wow at Cochran at LT. I feel bad for Moss.

    Coach Finnstock

  • Shipley at X is kinda interesting. Word is he has trouble against press so I don't really understand why they put him on the line.

  • Several things caught my eye. Dominique Jones at TE, Irby at H Back, Dravanti Johnson at Buck, Whaley at DT, Phillips at CB and Malcolm Brown at KO returner. I am jazzed about this season. If Gilbert can make a big move, this could be a much better year than most folks are anticipating.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

  • Biggest surprise to me is that Phillips isn't the backup to Vacarro at Nickle and Safety. Is it possible that Vacarro plays Nickle and Thompson or Evans are on the field over Phillips?

We put in the projected depth chart last week that Poehlmann was working at guard.

Phillips is the first safety off the bench (before Thompson or Evans, or Brewster). Phillips is the extra DB in nickel situations and Brewster will be the dime guy.

Edmond is actually the 4th or 5th at MLB right now. They have mixed and matched with Hicks, Acho and Aaron Benson also playing there. Second on the depth chart, but he may not get second team reps.

Whaley to DT is apparently more than just an experiment. That, Dom Jones and the KR combo of Brown and Shipley were the three surprises for me.

    No.

Phillips is either a starter at corner or the first DB off the bench. They love what he has done this fall.

He will be the nickel next year unless they cross-train Diggs.

    Started practicing last week.

Whether it says OR or not, he's behind Thompson right now if they were to play today.

I think Texas went overboard with the ORs again, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
