  • Good stuff, Dave. I love how momentum in baseball works. When it's going good, it goes great. When it goes bad, even the best to ever play can get into a funk.

  • Nice work, thanks, Mr. Behr.

  • "We finally just switched it," Garrido said. "We switched the structure. We switched the way we were practicing. We've helped them recognize that it was about run scoring."

Sure wish I knew what *that* meant ... confused

But the turnaround at the plate is huge - that was getting scary.

He was talking about how the coaching staff was approaching things.

He went on to talk about how he had them watch Moneyball to reinforce the idea that it's about on-base percentage and getting runs across. The main thing was trying to make them not try, rather just go out and be patient and let the game come to them.

  • Anyone know off-hand what the team batting average is now for the season? Not great, but it's gotta be better than it was several games ago!

--3/18/12 .251. Probably went up to around .280-.300 after SFA 3/20/12.

The Longhorns entered the game with Texas State with a .212 team batting average, 3/13/12.

The Longhorns were batting .184 as a team, 2/28/12.

Crazy. Texas hit somewhere around .360 in the Oklahoma series last weekend.

They didn't have the best batting average against SFA on Tuesday, but their on-base percentage was great. They got on base 13 times due to errors, HBP and walks.

    Team OBP now is .363.

    Bruce,

The bat manufactuers have tweak that bats again and now they play more like wood bats. Last year those bats suck and this year is the 1st year for High School Teams to move to the BBCOR bats.

Yesss? And I am glad they reduced the reaction speed. Is it too much, we'll see one way or the other. Texas has almost hit about 5--6 more HRs already.

  • Thanks for the updated batting average and OBP numbers, guys. Augie cares a lot more about OBP than BA.
