Oddity of the week

  • Every winner in this week's four Big 12 games scored 50 or more points.

  • A horrific stat for a conference.

    OSU held Tech to 21.

    ISU held KU to 23.

    BU held KSU to 24.

not like they were all shootouts 50-49 shootouts.

Gerry, when do you think the pendelum will start to swing toward better defense in the Big 12?

    I don't, honestly.

The conference doesn't have the regional talent - in terms of prospects - to fill the rosters of the teams in the conference IMO. Other than Texas, it's just not a talented region of the country.

Then one adds into the equation that it's a spread league using the tempo offense allowable by the current rules to near perfection, and it's a play fast league in a region that isn't talented enough to compensate.

Lastly, Texas high school football is virtually now a spread brand of football without much defense. The positive is really good QB's and skill guys on offense, and it shows every Saturday.

When looking at every factor honestly, it's hard to see anything but the trend of offensive tempo football dominating the conference.

    Just one opinion.
