We are 8 deep at TE.

With another 10 ready to be converted at any time.

I love this mentality - I feel "better" about our offensive line now that we lost an All-Big 12, Lombardi Watch List, third year starting player... that's good stuff right there.

As a Texas fan - I feel better too!

Well, feel better about whats remaining. I already acknowledged that Haberns loss hurts, but something else I felt would hurt us was that we had a lot of our OL under 300lbs. They all look to have gained some weight and thats a plus. Gonna be a good unit, regardless of Habern.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

Top 8 will be Williams, Johnson, Evans, Shead and Ikard to start and the next three off the bench will be Irwin, Nila and Thompson. Irwin can play OG and OT. I dont know much about Farniok, but he did improve a great deal in the spring. Nila will be good if he is healthy and can play C and OG. Irwin will be good when he is on the field. Woods is recovering from cancer, so lord knows whats up with him. Its still a deep group, but Habern was very good for us and will be missed. We will still run the ball effectively. If the WRs "get it", our offense will be tough to stop. A lot more physical than we were last year.

You haven't run the ball effectively for YEARS.

    Keep dreaming!

Yet we've done it better than Texas during that time. You had Charles and since, not a single 1000 yard rusher. In one season we had two thousand yard rushers in Chris Brown and Murray. One season ago Murray again ran over a thousand yards. Nearly 2000 rushing and receiving. During his time, Murray set the all time TD record at OU. Now, he's the feature for the Cowboys.

    Go Cowboys!

We ran well in 10, but I dont know what you mean by years. We did squat last year, but gave it a token effort. IMO, we will play up to 5 RBs running the ball this year. The offense will be very diverse and very hard to prepare for since we have some serious versitility with several of the kids.

The running game is a joke and will continue to be because your line can't run block.

    Just not very tough..

Who is going to block for all those backs?

IMO WVU is the only team that will favored against us i see us being favored in the rest of the games including OU........

And who will OU lose to before the RRS? Thats the only way the #4 ranked team won't be favored over the #15.

They were tough enough to have a walkon average 100 yards a game before he got hurt. Whaley likely has a 1300 season if his leg wasn't rolled up on while blocking.

A walkon. I think he and the OL hit Diaz for a 60 yarder too.

If my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle.

The Sooner OL sucks and can't run block....rushing for yards against cup cakes doesn't matter.

The Sooners won't have 100 yards rushing on the Horns in October.

    MARK IT DOWN.

  • And Malcolm Brown was on pace for over 1200 yards during the regular season before he went down. Your point?
And outside of a run late in the game for 64 yards, he averaged about a yard per carry.

    btown1110

  • Gotta feel bad for the young men. They are obviously going through a tough spell on the OL. Injuries and a diagnosis of cancer is way beyond the scope of football and not something anyone can celebrate even if it is happening to Sooners. I for one will keep the young man who is recovering from cancer in my prayers. I wish the young men full recovery and hope that they can carry on in what ever they desire to achieve in life.

I've heard that argument a ton that we only rushed for 1 yard a play. That is because you guys where selling out against the run and we could pretty much throw at will against your young corners so we did to over 300 yds. That was part of the reason he got that 64 yd run because you guys run blitzed and he broke free and was gone. So I don't know if you can really state we couldnt run against you or is more we just didnt have to.

  • I love the banter but a little reality is necessary. This is the Sooners we are talking about. They are a tough worthy opponent and it won't be any different this year notwithstanding their issues. Bob Stoops has proven himself a great coach and his brother can turn out a ferocious defense. Having said that, I believe the matchups are in our favor. 2012 belongs to the Horns. In fact, I think we may be in the process of starting a sustained run of 4 or 5 straight imo. It will take the Sooners a bit to match up the type of talent we are stocking up. bigger DL and OL; a power run game; short, intermediate and deep balls against single coverage; TE down the seam. It's the Jimmy Johnson "formula" for winning games.

  • Derek Farniok, who is in the Sooners' "4 deep" at tackle. That dude is not ready to play, guaranteed.

The coaches singled him out in the spring as having one of the best springs of anyone on the team. He's 6'9 310 and was recruited as a project, so he definitely needs to sharpen up his technique. But when you're the one guy singled out, he must have had a nice spring. He's still only a freshman. With the publicity recruits get today, we tend to expect results much earlier than we should. I like his progression but if he got thrown out there during the RRS, I'd give an oh shit and cover my eyes.

I know all about Jordan Phillips. Would be a cinch first rounder if he switched to OT. Still will be great as a DT though.

I couldn't agree more. However, we have 3 senior DTs and we'll desperately need him next year. Plus, a DT that big and athletic is very rare. If he was at OU 4 years ago when Gerald McCoy and Granger were here, he'd be a OT. He'll be a really good DT but would be an elite OT.

Since this thread has been hijacked by the gooners, I will add that y'all may have the titles, but we UT women still have our teeth, and they are not black. Yes, to all you OU fans, women are not supposed to have black teeth.
