    RIP..Pimp C...

Couldn't believe UGK hadn't been mentioned yet in this thread, so I had to say something!

In my humble cracka ass cracka opinion, Bun B's delivery is right up there next to Pac and Biggies.

    Just. Damn.

And of course, RIP Pimp C.

Black Shipley, you must not have been following how this thread originated. We gave plenty of love to UGK . Check out the thread "It's the offseason, so I'll post it" and you see we didn't forget them.

Yeah, my bad. I didn't know there was prior discussion about them on another thread. Looking at it now I realize why I never clicked on the thread... because who made the original post. Avoided it because of that. I'll check it out though. Just had to make sure they were mentioned here since I didn't know that they had been elsewhere. For some reason I've been listening to all their albums (and other stuff of course) for the past few months, so I felt compelled to say something! Haha.

They're definitely in a league of their own. Ridin Dirty is such a great album

He'll be ok. Besides, if we really wanted to piss them off I'd ask you to post Rass Kass' "Nature of the Treat" (and make sure you post the one with the lyrics) or B.I.B.L.E. lol!

I'd would've upvoted just cuz you had Camp Lo in there....a lot of people slept on them...

Uptown Saturday Night is such a killer killer record. Some of the early People Under the Stairs stuff is crazy good and slept on too.

There was a lot of West Coast non gangster stuff that was so killer. I think a lot of people missed on the Beat Junkies as well.

Kelso named some good stuff too.

A$AP Rocky is a throwback to the 90's in my opinion...probably my favorite MC right now...

Yeah his stuff is awesome. That whole crew is really good. I hope they/he lives up to their potential.

  • Don't forget about the first NWA record, that is a punk rock record as well....

What was the first hip hop you heard? I remember hearing Curtis Blow's "Basketball" when I was a kid, and I just totally freaked out!

I still think that "Runnin'" by the Pharcyde is my favorite cut though. It just has so much history for me / time/ place.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hZKN4AZ63g

The J Dee / J.Dilla remix is kick ass too. Dilla doesn't nearly get enough love. In my opinion, he is the best / most talented beat maker/producer ever. Him, Premiere, Pete Rock.....

Also, I really dig the first three Massive Attack records. They are from the UK and are more laid back/soulful but damn......it is crazy crazy good.

First hip hop that I truly remember listening to was "5 minutes of Funk" by Whodini and this may not qualify as hip hop but I remember "Strange" by Cameo.
