  • Do any of y'all listen to Lil Wayne? I've been real disappointed with what he's put out lately. I wish he'd go back to the old Wayne..he hasn't had a hot verse since the Hustle Hard remix...

  • I've up voted you fellas. Don't know that it'll help since I'm not a member but whatever. Any thread that brings up Silk and Girl U For Me is alright in my book.

Im very disappointed that this thread is over 200 posts and no mention of Hi-Five. No Kissing Game. No I Cant Wait Another Minute.

I hear you. You know what gets me the most? Stax Records, the Southern Motown. Not as slick as Motown, just some nitty gritty Southern Soul. Actually any good soul from the late 50s, all of the 60's and up until the mid 70's. Also give me some of the Reverend Al Green.

If you can get your hands on the 8 cd box set of every Stax released single, it.will.blow.your.mind.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stax_Records

Otis Redding, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, Carla Thomas, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, William Bell, Eddie Floyd, The Bar-Kays, Albert King, Staple Singers, The Mad Lads....

Big fan of Otis. Also like James Carr "A man needs a woman" and "The dark end of the street" and of course Sam Cooke

  • I don't like rap at all really, I never listened to it when I was younger and I sure don't now. It's funny though you get conditioned to certain songs for certain reasons. When I was growing up in Houston they had a "teen club" scene. There were 4 or 5 in my area. The cops and parents cracked down on them after a few years and I haven't seen them since. But anyways a bunch of 13 to 18 year olds would go to the places and grind up on each other and smoke cigarettes weed and pop whatever crap pills they stole from their parents. H-Town rap was immensly popular at the time and these three will always stick with me. It's funny if you play any of these songs in Houston everybody knows them.

I think everything he made before the Carter 3 was amazing. Those mixtapes/Albums were revolutionary to Hip-Hop.

This sounds exactly like what we did at my highschool. We would rent out a club once a week, pay for a DJ, then everybody would get drunk, high or both and then dance and hook up.
