Notion regarding OU, the SEC and us

  • InsightTexas said...

    No way.

    - UT can't win the Big 12. Why commit to permanent mediocrity in the SEC?
    - UT would have almost no influence in the SEC vs determining influence in the Big 12.
    - UT has a money advantage in the Big 12 that it would lose in the SEC.
    - The path to the final 4 in the new system would become even more difficult for everyone in the SEC with too much quality in one conference.
    - The Big 12 would not die. It would add teams and have a much easier path to undefeated seasons and the final 4.
    - Why would existing SEC members want UT and OU in a conference that is already loaded? (Yeah, UT would be viewed as an easy win as long as Mack is around but it would mean less over time.)
    - The SEC is all about adding TV markets. OU adds almost nothing to the SEC TV contract and the SEC already has aggy in the Texas market.
    - OU cannot leave OSU or they would already be in the Pac 12. UT may not be able to leave TT or Baylor.
    - The GOR is effective.
    - No way UT follows little brother to the SEC.

The SEC has no interest in adding Texas. The SEC will only add schools in new states to expand the footprint. A&M brings us the Texas market. Plus, te decision to add a school has to be unanimous from all member Presidents. If A&M voted no then it's a no-go.

Please. If Texas was serious about getting an invite into the SEC it would be done tomorrow, there are 2 schools that demand that kind of respect. Texas and Notre Dame. However, there are not just 2 guys at Texas that want nothing to do with the SEC.

Tell me what Texas can offer the SEC that we don't already have? If it was about adding powerful schools then we wouldn't have added Mizzou.

The next two teams into the SEC will be NC State and West Virginia

You're just pulling guesses out of your stink hole. Texas brings the entire state and a name. Aggy brought you part of Texas but will always be lil brother, like Auburn. The SEC would crap themselves if OU and Texas showed interest.

    SoonerSeif

  • So what does a name bring? We are already the best conference. We will have at least 2 spots in the new playoff as it is. What does Texas bring to the table?

Plus, how could Texas get in? A&M will vote no for sure as would Arkansas and LSU, and Mizzou. Why would those schools give up the recruiting advantage that they have over Texas now? The best players want to be in the SEC. I mean, how does Texas not have a top 5 recruiting class every year if y'all are so prestigious? Didn't y'all lose 5 commits to the SEC this year?

It will be one school from NC and one from Va with the first choices being uva and unc.

The sec has no interest in destabilizing the b12. They saved u when they signed the champions bowl agreement. As soon as the md exit fee is determined look for the beginning of the end of the acc to begin. The b1g gets one from va, ga, and nc. The sec gets one from va and nc. The b12 gets leftovers to put each conf at 16. Whats interesting is what will the pac do? Vegas?

I don't think saved is the correct term. But, it put us in position to be the fourth conference should four conferences be the next step. Which I beleive it is.

Ok, they thought the east coast was the direction to grow to max tv eyes for the new network so they selected b12 as a partner. This stabilized the b12, big fu to the the b1g, and set the acc death clock to 1159.

If football matters, the Big 12 is already the second best conference. Nice positioning!

    VaHorn

  • The SEC would kick A&M out of the conference to get Texas in.

I have never disagreed that the Big 12 can't hold it's own on the field. But as a brand name it is failing, and outside of the region it has little to offer as big TV draws.

Forgetting everything else on this thread, this poster is hilarious in his myopic stupidity. The notion that the biggest singular brand in college sports outside of Notre Dame is just a name, and that ATM, LSU, and Arkansas would vote against adding them because "ATM gives the SEC the state" is so mindnumbingly absurd that it's tough to even offer a response.

Keep sniffing your own farts in Alabama, dude. You aren't worth the bullet.

Im here for the entertainment of watching a once great program dissolve into irrelevance as a result of its own greed. Plus now Im an ag fan in the shadows and curious to see how you were handling seeing a more attractive little brother bang ur old lady. Us bulldogs welcome you to college football mediocrity - nice class btw. I think u finished a spot ahead of us in the rankings. Here's to meeting in a crappy bowl game in the future. Get used to it.

This I do agree with the brand is slipping, but the on the field results are still above any other conference except the SEC.

Why should we show class to someone that is coming over here looking to stir shit up for no reason? Basic reasoning must not be taught in the either the Mississippi public schools or the state universities.

Much suck to know that in one our crappiest years on the field Texas finished above you in one of your best.

  • OU and Texas both finish in the top 10 revenue a year. The SEC is all about money and both programs have it. The SEC already makes a lot of money and with OU and Texas, they'd make that much more. Like I said, Aggy is #2 in Texas and gives you a portion of Texas, but not all. It'll never happen though, our AD has already said the SEC culture isn't something he wants OU associated with. Whether its true or not, I don't know but i know they prefer west over East, as shown two years ago.

It's funny the sister programs are coming over here talking about how they don't think the SEC would want OU and Texas. Do you truly believe Auburn or MSU has any pull whatsoever? BTW, I committed to MSU for baseball in high school.

    SoonerSeif

  • Hey Soonerseif, has that anus healed from that dry in, no lube Cotton Bowl treatment you got from "aggy" and the SEC?

Seeing the looks on the faces of all that white trash with wagons on their shirts leaving Jerry World was priceless! Conference co-champs LMFAO!

Your team sucks and so does your recruiting in Texas from here on out. Get used to it.

I dont think you understand how the SEC works. It isnt like the Big 12 where Texas controls everything. Every member in the SEC has an equal vote. That is why Texas doesnt want to join the conference. The movers and shakers would go from dictating how the Big 12 is run to just another seat at the table in the SEC. Texas would have to give up the LHN and share revenue equally.

I dont think you understand the TV market thing either. Yes, A&M brings us the Texas market. If you have the sports package with your cable then you will get the SEC network whether you want it or not.

Nah it has more to do with a culture of cheating and paper mill degrees.
