    "Game MVP
Goes to Javan Felix. Again, he wasn't exceptional and still had times where he was careless with the ball and either threw a ball away, or had a pass that put a teammate in a bad position. Still, his 20 points, seven assists and three steals was a solid stat line and he made enough plays down the stretch by attacking the rim and trying to beat his man off the dribble. Texas State head coach Doug Davalos felt like Felix's ability to use the ball screen and get to the bucket made the difference in the game, and it did late in the second half. "

Can't help but think that as disappointing as this season has been so far, that the experience that Javan Felix is getting is going to pay us great dividends, hopefully, later this season, but maybe more so for a few seasons to come. My understanding is that he came to Texas more than a little overweight and out of shape and here he is playing, I think, more minutes than anyone else on the team. Sure, he has had turnover issues, and at times, has seemed a little overwhelmed. But tonight, I think I saw a little of that killer instinct desire to take over the game that has been sorely lacking. This team is so young. I think if we have a little patience and our big guys begin to come around, we could be a much better team by the end of this season. It would be nice if we could get some more butts in the seats. It is just possible that the eyeballs associated with those butts might get to see the development of a pretty good team for the future.

BTW, Jeff. I sit in the first row upstairs pretty far from press row. It was pretty quiet, but I do think I did hear a few farts ... not saying that you had anything to do with that, but, just saying, you know ...

    biggrin

  • Connor Lambert is certainly giving the Horns quality mins. He does the little things that goes unnoticed in the box score.

That is very true, and Connor even had a pretty good box score last night.

Great passing forward.. I hope he gets that toughness installed into him.

He had one play in the last game where he fed the post from the side of the free throw line. And, I have seen other cases, so far, where he has shown great court awareness in the half court. Papi has shown some of that ability, also, and is a pretty good ball handler for his size. Papi has trailed off a bit of late, but with their respective skill sets, the two of them on the court at the same time can do nothing but help Javan and the half court offense. I think things have the potential to get better a lot sooner than some may tend to think.
