  • Is there anybody who hasn't figured out Gerry's statement & how the timing of the decommitment played out on the heels of the camp?

I'm not able to. The consensus seems to be that his AAU coach is encouraging him to collect cash, but ''Sometimes the player doesn't open back up his recruitment'' to me suggests the parents are forcing him to look around, since an AAU coach can't make the kid open up his recruitment.

I'm not able to 'read between the lines' on Gerry's statement. Perhaps b/c I don't really know how AAU basketball recruiting works other than it often involves payment.

I understand your point, but it's invalidated by the Ryan Perrilloux debacle. Did a lot of people believe he'd decommit? Yes. Did it shock and anger the staff? yes. Did they get lucky that McCoy turned out to make it not matter and make us all forget? Yes. That doesn't change how big it was at that moment in time. That happened the week of signing day. This happened 8 months before one. So it is hard to see how the margin can be considered large at all, no matter how it is couched.

Add the Brantley kid. Lost McFarland when we really needed a DT. The sky is definitely not falling. And yeah how did t turn out for all three? Very average so far. Perriloux's college career was an unmitigated train wreck--not that I wished it on the kid.
