I don't see Texas soon the air raid thing. That eliminates Dykes. Dabo is pretty happy at Clemson.
Strong or Mullen would be my top 2 off of the unheralded list.
I would like to see a list of never even thought about it names who would pick up the phone when UT needs to fill the spot. Guys the moderators might be alluding to.

I like Pat Fitzgerald. Give him a war chest and let him pick his own staff. Keep a few coaches on to smoth over recruiting and go beat the shit out of OU.

I know some disagree but for me Fitzgerald would be an excellent hire. There are some who wonder if he is a good recruiter. There is no doubt however he is an excellent X and O's guy.

not this again...i'll spare you the breakdown i gave you before, but northwestern is 6-1. 5 of their 6 wins have come against teams w/ losing records - a combined 8-22. their lone win vs a winning team is against minnesota at 4-2. minnesota's 4 wins come against 3 losing fbs teams and an fcs team. $100 says he does no better than 2-3 the rest of the season.

Yes this again..............somebody is going to hire Fitzgerald in the next 2 or 3 years and have a hell of a coach (and representative of the the university) for the next 20 years.

I think Dabo would be a terrible hire. Mullen, Strong, Franklin, Patterson, Peterson. Top 5 realistic options, imo.

If we are talking under the radar, darkhorse candidates I would add Greg Roman (OC of the 49'ers).
Has worked under Jim Harbaugh since 2009 (was OC and Asst. HC at Stanford with him) and is still young.
He has a background in strenght/conditioning (with Panthers) as well as coaching OL and TE's.
Not near my first choice but if we are looking for up and comers and those who would make good HC's one day he would be on my list.

That's a good name. Probably unlikely but I'm a big fan of that Stanford program
