Not UT related, but Shelbi Vaughan who just graduated Mansfield HS, qualified 4th in the discus with a throw of 193'6". She'll need to move up one spot in the finals to make the US team, an unbelievable accomplishment for such a young woman.

Not looking good for the world record anymore. Eaton managed only 721 points in the javelin. He needs 838 points in the 1500. That would be a time of about 4:15 or about 4 seconds better than his best time in a decathlon 1500. 4:35 should still get the North American record, so he should make that with ease.

Beating his previous best decathlon 1500 time by 4 seconds is unreal. Decathletes are unanimous in noting the extremely difficult nature of the 1500 since it is placed at the end of two days of strenuous physical activity. Amazing feat by Eaton.
