Maybe it only means that whether he stays or goes he will bear goodwill toward the university and help out his friends when they so need.
We can drive ourselves crazy trying to infer things from tweets, but we're better off just waiting for announcements and not guessing at the future or debating ambiguities in short messages.

I think this one is easy. It means he is leaving.
