I think Arthur Brown will challenge for defensive league MVP. He is great.

Definitely a possibility. Especially if Jeffcoat's rehab slows him in the first part of the year.

    OU isn't winning the conference.

No running game and defense will only be slightly improved.

We will have a running game. It was good last year when we actually tried to run it. A one yard per carry improvement over the previous year and it should only be better this year. Gotta do better inside the 20s though. Belldozer should help, but wait until you see Thompsons package.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

WVU had some embarassing losses to awful teams last year. Their defense blows, and they just hired a 1st time DC who was a position coach known best for for his recruiting.

They are what Texas Tech was under Leach. They aren't winning this conference.

Leach was 11-1 his last year and there was a 3 way tie for 1st, including a miraculous win over Texas. I hope they are more like Tech under Tuberville.

No, thank you. We'll let Kenny Stills do that.

Leach averaged 8 wins a year at Tech. That's about what WVU will do. And that is a nice addition.

Jeff, did you think about going with both WVU receivers instead of Stills? I'm not sure Stills has the speed/quickness to be a No. 1 receiver.

Stills needs to prove he can be a #1 WR but his speed is great. He ran a 4.39 in the spring which realistically is probably 4.43 but still blazing. Austin from WVU is a beast too. I think those are the top two in the conference (Stills and Austin).

DB Gabe Lynn's name has been conspicuously absent from the OU DB talk...not sure his progression has been as expected

He's the starting nickelback and since Mike runs majority nickel, he's an important piece to this years defense.

Struggled early in the spring, but the light came on later. Might be bit of a curve for him. We will see how much things slowed down for him over the summer. Colvin at corner is better right now. If you see Colvin moved back to safety, then we found a corner we can trust. My money is on Okatcha. Hes a walkon with crazy ball skillz and is quick as a cat. Small though. Hopefully he put on some weight over the summer. You would have seen him last year but he got hurt.

I'm almost positive Harris has locked up the other safety spot and Colvin is staying at CB.

Okatcha isn't a walk on and has a very impressive offer list. He had minor surgery that has set him back in the spring.

The other two CBs worth mentioning are Kass Everrett who everyone thought was Tech bound. He's struggling picking up the scheme but apparently came on strong towards the end of spring. The other is Lamar Harris. He's not flashy but just a solid football player.

Even a slightly improved defense makes OU incredibly dangerous with our offense.

And... OU averaged the exact same amount of yards per carry as Texas. If I'm not mistaken Finch and Whaley had more yards than Brown and Burgeron.

He's very good. I just don't think he'll get the media exposure a guy like Corey Nelson or Jackson Jeffcoat would, per se. Some guys in front of him would have to have down years for him to win it, IMO, but I agree that he's one of the better defensive players in the league.

That will be interesting. Dude couldn't cover a bucket of water last year. Physical player though.

He has been criticized a ridiculous amount around here and its hardly deserved. He was tge scapegoat for the Tech game even though the entire defense played horrible. He's not a bad player and that at corner, not his natural position. He's really taking off at safety.

Yards per carry in college football stupidly include sacks.

    1. No, I actually saw with my own eyes that he was abused against Tech, benched, and played little after that. Safety will be a good spot for him but I guarantee you he will get caught peeking into the backfield looking for that big hit that he so craves.

    2. It's not only here that he takes criticism, pretty much every where, and on every sooner board I've visited. He was not a productive player last year outside of that one monstrous hit.

They're certainly not without flaws, but the question you've got to answer is who will be better than them in the conference?

I feel like I picked then almost by default. I guess if you just blindly pick OU in a given year you've got a decent shot at getting the thing right anyway.

That's true but Finch averaged 5.5 ypc, that's pretty good.

What about a much improved D and the same ole shit offense from Jones and co. when Broyles isn't on the field?
