  • Starting OG Tyler Evans is undergoing MRI on knee this morning. Freshman OG John Michael McGee is headed home.

Permanently? Or did he forget his retainer?

Signatures are stupid. You should block them.

  • Per Jake Trotter of ESPN, supposedly McGee is homesick. Stoops is giving him a couple days to make up his mind.

  • Stoops is probably on the phone with PSU lineman as we speak.

  • I remember when John Michael McGee didn't get an offer on a Jr Day at Texas and then tweeted about it in a whining fashion. Sounds like not much has changed. He's a whiner and Bob Stoops still requires that true freshmen OLs drink their own vomit during two-a-days.

I could see getting homesick if I was looking at 4-5 years in that dump.

Even if everyone is fully healthy, you'll just hear other excuses. Don't you know how unfair it is for them to have to play the game in Dallas? OU has never lost a game that was not a complete screw job by the refs. You should know this by now.

  • I hope the Evans injury isnt serious but it doesnt sound very good for him or us. I hope people are wrong on this though. What does this do to our OL? Well, that great depth we had is now starting and the new depth doesnt have to shave yet. Tackle is still good, but C and OG are in a numbers crunch now. Ikard at center now, Irwin will now have to start and Nila has to back up both spots unless Woods can continue to whip his cancer (talk about tough). We have bodies at C and OG, but it takes an lineman time to get the techniques down so I am not really counting on the newbies.

Gonna be very interesting to see how Stoops works with this. There have been a couple of suprises up front depth chart wise that may free some things up for moving some people around, but we will see.

TexShoe, last i checked, Macks teams have had more practice making excuses after our games than Stoops.

Of course you would think that. Every time Stoops loses a game, he opens the press conference with, "we don't make excuses here at OU", then proceeds to pack the rest of the PC stuffed with excuses.

    What's with Evans' knee? ACL?

  • Is Nila even practicing yet? Dude has frickin heart surgery last week if I'm not mistaken.

Stoops didnt confirm ACL, but everyone else is saying it is. I think Nila did practice today, but Im not sure. IMO, the starting 5 will be:

    LT- Thompson
    LG- Irwin
    C - Ikard
    RG-Shead
    RT- Williams

Everyone has played before, 2 of the 5 have started I think. Still, all of this and we aint even gone full pads yet. I guess its good that its happening now instead of game week. Cant lose anymore, thats a fact. Everything else has been great with the team. We will be ready in October even if we have to move a TE over there like we did in 09 as the season went on. Crazy year. The entire right side of the OL were TEs one game....LOL.

  • Daryl Williams has a chance to be an NFL player if he ever figures it out and gets serious. I have him ranked very highly on the "OL that we should've offered under the previous regime" listing.

If I am not mistaken, this is going to be the best offensive line Stoops will have seen at OU by the end of the first week of practice.

No worries WildBill, Stoops himself said it's a "very minor heart surgery", so I'm sure he would have no qualm about playing Nila 60 snaps if there was a game tomorrow'.

  • How is it possible to get homesick that quickly?

It is a certainty that Oklahoma talk radio will declare OU the best line in the history of football by the end of two a days at the latest.

I realize the sarcasm, but "minor heart surgery" is funny to me. Any time there's a sharp object near the ticker it isn't minor.

Williams had a starting spot last year but got hurt prior to the first game and it took some time for him to get back to 100%. He is indeed very good and with Shead beside him, they should be able to move some people. Now, the left side is ok at OT, but we have to make sure Irwin is on the same page as everyone. Again, its good it happened early so that Irwin can get his lions share of snaps with the others.

I dont know what surgery Nila had, but hes been cleared for full go. As long as his folks are cool with what the doctor said, he should and will play as much as he is able.

Wow, what a start to the season.

I wish it was sarcasm, but Big Game Bob also thought Jason White's torn ACL was a minor knee injury and promptly sent his gimpy ass right back in the game. Same went for Sam Bradford, Landry Jones.

We generally don't make excuses after the game in public. Mack has said that we were outplayed and needed to get better and sometimes gone on to explain how we were outplayed. That is not an excuse. It is defining the situation. Even if he pointed out our youth, it isn't making an excuse but a factor in the loss. Losses between OU and Texas tend not to hurt either team because the programs are both long term quality programs and the kids generally leave everything on the field.

The losses that hurt are the ones to Iowa State, Baylor, and the like. It is hard not to be looking to place blame on those.
