Gillispie is whittling down the Tech roster. Tech already has three transfers--Nash, Willis, and Forte (who was really gone mid-season), but Gillispie has a nine man class coming in, so he still needs to punt 4 more guys or talk them into playing without scholarships. What a dick. At least three of the guys he'll have to punt are guys he signed last year.

Write-up about the up-coming WVU team. Kilicli (who seems like he's been around forever), some very good second year players, transfers Murray and Staten, and freshman Macon should make for a pretty good team. Losing Jones hurts them badly, but losing Truck Bryant is a blessing, if you ask me.

  • Wannah Bail won't qualify so that is one spot BCG won't have to worry about. Not 100% sure Michael Carey is cleared either.

Michael Carey has all of the same issues as Bail as they went to & left all 7 schools together.

Except Michael actually did well in class. Both have issues with school transcripts, attending enough days each semester, etc. But Wannah has additional issues.

  • In my haste to pillory Gillispie, I forgot to mention Bail as a qualifying risk, but I beg forgiveness and note that I did mention it last week.

I also mentioned last week that KSU has a 14 doesn't go into 13 problem of its own, but it found a way out by telling James Watson that he can't play for medical reasons. Now, the cynic in me has to think "KSU couldn't figure that out when he left Wazzou with a heart condition or when he was found passed out in the dorm room in his first year in Manhattan, but it can when it has 14 guys on scholarship?" The practical side of me notes that KSU will honor the scholarship, just not let him play, and petition the NCAA for the extra medical schollie, and Watson wasn't going to get any time on the floor, anyway. Of course, it is a sad situation for the kid however one looks at it.

Darrell Williams' felony case was put off again. Defense attorney has a sick mom. This is not the first continuance given to the defense for reasons that have nothing to do with defendant's ability to secure evidence in his defense, and this case is taking an inordinately long time to get to trial. The allegations are of conduct in December 2010, and now we're looking at a July 2012 trial without any delay being caused by an appellate court stay. Very slow moving case.

Even so, do you see Carey getting past the clearinghouse with 7 schools on his transcript when many guys struggle with even 2 on theirs.

That man would try to get someone illiterate in school if he can play great.

I'm sure he's not the only one.

Not really, but I've been told he has a chance, where Wannah doesn't.

  • Huggins ready to offer multi-year scholarships. WVU AD says coaches can in any sport at the school.
