  • I think you're way off base on some of these, Mike Davis should be a 3rd round or better talent. Jeffcoat top 2 rounds.

Fair enough, but what does Mike Davis do exceptionally well? Great speed? No. Prototypical size? No. Has good hands but not great hands. He's a good college WR, there are a lot of Mike Davis' out there. Teams are going to be concerned with Jeffcoat's injury history, he's missed a lot of games throughout his career. If he has a healthy and productive season, I can see him going mid to high 2nd.

Well, instead of being an ass, give your thoughts.

    He's not?

It all depends on how next season goes obviously.

-Jeffcoat should go in the 1st but he might get hurt again.
-Mike Davis is Ash's favorite target, and assuming Ash continues to improve, Davis should have a great season and be at least a 2nd round pick.
-Hopkins will get drafted. If Davis Snow can start for the Bills, Hopkins has a place in the league. I'm gonna guess 4th-5th.
-Hicks should have 2 years left, and I'm assuming he will be hurt both years.
-I could see Hawkins be a late round pick.
-Byndom: If he returns to 2011 form he could be a 1st round pick. Otherwise I'm guessing 4th.
-None of the other guys have much of a chance of being drafted unless its the 7th round. Phillips maybe if he also returns to 2011 form.

It's good to finally have some seniors that we can put in the league. It should stay this way for the next couple years.

How is Mike Davis not prototypical size?

He is over 6' (listed at 6'2) and around 195 lbs. That is pretty prototypical size. He may not be a burner but he is not slow at right around 4.50 speed.

  • Jeffcoat: late 1- 2nd
    Hicks: 4 rnd
    Davis: 4 rnd
    Byndom- 3-5
    Hopkins: 5-6
    Walters: coin flip if drafted

Whaley: this one interests me. There is a chance he moves into the draft. He will have some pretty interesting measureables. I could see a team taking the chance on the athletic ability over the production.

    Trey Hopkins-6th-7th
    Mason Walters-FA
    Garrett Porter-FA
    Mike Davis-6th-7th
    Case McCoy-FA

Jeffcoat- if healthy will be a first rounder
Wilson- I could see 7th based on measureables and speed plus I think he will have a decent year.
    Dorsey- FA
Whaley- 3rd and here's why. I think GMs and coaches will fall in love with him at the combine. He is a freak of an athlete.
Hicks- with a good healthy season 1st round. With a down or injured season I still don't see him going later than the 4th there is just too much talent there.
Cobbs- 7th- fa I think he gets drafted based solely on potential and athletic ability.
Byndom- with a good year he will go in the top 2 rounds, I don't think he will go later than the 4th no matter his season.
Philips is a wild card for me. With a good year I think he could go in the 2-3 rounds. Otherwise I think late round to undrafted.
Hawkins- 3-5th round maybe 2nd with a GREAT season. He's good
Hopkins- he will go 3-4 round he is solid and versatile and quick footed. All qulities nfl teams are looking for in the value rounds.
Walters- this I think depends on the season a lot, I think he could go as high with the 3rd with a great year or go undrafted. I have no doubt he will make a team.
Porter- fa won't make a team
Davis- 2-5 he is a heck of talent and now that he has his attitude right. I think he is the type of receiver that is doing well as a #2 in the league.
    Case- fa
IMHO I think you have underestimated a number of our players, I'm looking at it from an nfl standpoint. Not solely on production here but at potential in the league. Just my two cents

  • I think Jeffcoat and Hicks are going to be crushed in the draft due to serious injury concerns/history.

I can see Hopkins and/or Hawkins going higher than initial post.

Mike Davis - will all depend on times he runs IMO. Good times + good senior year, 3rd or 4th IMO.

Still a lot left to be decided, and so much key off-season time.

The 2014 NFL mock draft 1st rounds will change so much from now until next February...not unlike recruiting lists in our business right now with the 2014 class.

  • Mike Davis graded out a 3rd rounder for this years draft, So if he doesn't hurt his stock then he should go that round or higher.

JJ - 1st if he has big, healthy year. If not, he slides big time.
    JH - 5th or so
CB - 2nd if he returns to freshman form this season
    DH - 7th
    Hopkins - 5th or 6th
    Davis - 2nd

McCoy as a FA? You serious?

    Jeffcoat - 1st or 2nd round
    Hicks - 3rd or 4th round
    Byndom - 3rd or 4th round
    Phillips - 5th or 6th round
    Hawkins - 4th or 5th round
    Hopkins - 5th or 6th round
    Walters - 6th or 7th round
    Davis - 3rd or 4th round

Wilson, Dorsey, Whaley, Porter, and Cobbs will receive FA love.

  • Davis - 2nd round.
Jeffcoat - 3rd to 4th round. Great player but injury concerns are really going to hurt his draft status.
    Byndom - 3rd to 4th.
    Hawkins - 3rd to 4th.
    Walters - 4th or 5th.
Hicks - 5th to 7th. Good measurables but lack of production. Injury history will hurt too.
    Hopkins - 6th to 7th.

Whaley - could sneak into the draft if he has a good pro day. Most likely FA.
    Wilson - FA.
Cobbs - FA. Good measurables but not much to show on the field.
    Philips - FA.
    Dorsey - FA.
McCoy - maybe FA. I don't see him making it off a NFL practice squad though.
Porter - doesn't make the pros.

I could see Diggs in the 3rd or 4th round if he goes pro early.

  • JJ - 1st round to a 3-4 def
Davis - 2nd round as another Victor Cruz type WR
    Hicks - 4th
Byndom - 4th - 5th round (if Chykie Brown can go 5th round, so can Byndom)
    Hopkins - 5th & drafted as C
Whaley - 6th or 7th based on ridiculous combine results & undervalued athleticism

If Case McCoy is drafted or signed as FA, that GM should be fired on the spot & the owner of that franchise forced to sell

    mcb0703

  • Porter will receive FA love

huh An OG that has never started a game and barely played as a backup?

    LonghornSD

  • Mike Davis appears to be one of the more under-appreciated players to come through Texas. I don't get the lack of respect for this guy.

    Heisenberg

  • You guys are forgetting about Diggs, would not be surprised if he turned pro early.. Could see him going from late 1st to early 3rd, just depends on the season he has.

Undoubtedly a great player (and great bloodline), but don't you think his size will keep him from the first round? Isn't he really around 5'8"?

This shocked me as well. 2nd round at least.
