  • Now that Williams is gone do you think it changes things for golden? How does our staff feel about the kid? Definite offer?

    Texcosa

  • Golden was recruited by David Beaty and seems to be the most instrumental in his recruitment. He is also been told he we ill play from day one since the Aggies have zero DT depth.

  • the "early playing time" card really works for some. particularly when you team is terrible and the promise is believable. in this case, it probably is.

i have to look to see the last DL they had drafted. was it Ty Warren? is it anyone not in their 30's?

they do have a long history of decommitments and recruits using them as insurance. i guess we'll see.

my fault for looking here http://www.aggieathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27300&ATCLID=205239065

    two undrafted.
    three sixth-round draft picks
    Red Bryant
one three hots and a cot
two on current NFL active rosters

my bad. i did post it though.

and Von Miller is not listed by aTm or Denver as a DL. LB by both.

So when you first said this, "i have to look to see the last DL they had drafted", you had really already looked but screwed up? :)

    Sin Miedo

  • PS...A&M will also have another DL drafted this year. Not trying to be argumentative, but I honestly don't know the draft prospects for the Horns in '12. Thoughts?

you're right. i should have phrased it better.

-Jolly is behind bars and spent more time at JUCO while he wasn't dancing down 77-0.
-Bryannt is a spare in the NFL on a bad team.
-Montgomery and Harrington are no longer in the league after being late second day picks..
    -Bennett was undrafted.
-Patterson is fighting for a practice squad spot on a bad defense.

sorry for the mass confusion. my bad.

Who? Jerod-Eddie? Mathis? I don't think either is supposed to be drafted. Even if they are, they'll both be picked behind Kheeston Randall.

Is the idea successful NFL careers as DL, or the opportunity to be in the league?

I would guess that most kids are looking for a place where they can get to the next level. Even the most naive recruits know that how well they perform or how long they last when getting to the big stage is primarily determined by their decisions once arriving there.

If that's true, then that list isn't too bad, IMO. You listed six guys, not including Bernard, who have either had or have an opportunity. All within the last decade. The number is by no means stellar, but respectable, no?

TJE will probably go late in the draft. Mathis is returning to A&M.

We'll see if he's drafted. I threw out Randall because WR didn't know our DL draft prospect for this year. Scouts do, though.

agreed.... i think both players will be solid players in the NFL. No barn burners but they will play plenty of snaps in their career. TJE is very much underrated. DT depth killed him this year.... running on fumes

  • It's funny that someone on this board considered Von Miller a DL.
