One question, if Harsin signed a one year deal are the Harsins or others within the program expecting Harsin to be here for just that one year or are multiple years the idea?

Texas doesn't give multi-year deals to assistant coaches. So it's not about how long they expect Harsin to be here.

Harsin was very honest about wanting to be a head coach one day. But that has nothing to do with his contract here or how long he's going to stay here.

He came for a reason. He wanted to be at Texas. Texas offered him a one-year deal because they offer all assistant coaches one-year deals.

One-year deals are pretty much the norm around the country for assistant coaches, although that is starting to change at some places.

I find it interesting that your article and responses here describe Kes as taking a proactive role in advancing Harse's career.

What are your thoughts on how Kes and Sally will get along? There were some rumors (and rumor's only) that Sally and Carol Muschamp were polar opposites - I bring this up because Sally is very much a part of this program and the speculation, at the time, was that Sally's expectations of coaches wives didn't sit well with Carol.

Is asking about the extended families of the coaching staff out of bounds when it comes to harmonious relations?

Excellent in-depth article Alan! Good background on his childhood, which makes him the motivated & meticulous person he is today. I like his approach to incrementally installing the Offense in phases. I think his realistic approach will pay huge dividends for years to come.
