This thread reminded me of a story my lil bro told me. He is attending University of Arkansas in Ft Smith. First day of class the professor asks all the students to tell where they are from and what is their favorite mascot. Obviously this is Arkansas and everyone is from there and says razorback or hog. My lil bro stands up and says "I'm from Comanche, TX and I'm a longhorn! Hook'em Horns!!" He said you could hear a pin drop and everyone just sat there staring at him lol. It brought a tear to my eye after laughing for half an hr

Texas has one of the worlds most well known …the Longhorn. Places like Bama are the crimson tide yet their mascot is an elephant; still trying to figure out when elephants roamed Alabama. Auburn is the war eagles, yet their mascot is a tiger. We all know why ou is the sooners and why it’s so appropriate. But how did many schools get their mascot names? I grew up in west Texas and every community has their high school’s mascot named on the town water tower; don’t know if this happens in other states. There are several really great mascots out there from high schools to colleges; what are your favorites or what are some of the most outrageous? What are some of the most ridiculous?
