I just mentioned wanting to hear about the details of the nutrition program. I'd love to hear some of her philosophies about nutrition for performance. I wish Texas would hold a camp for fans where you get to go work out with Bennie and hear her speak about nutrition. It would be awesome to see the facilities and work with Bennie.:
"Not sure if we can make that happen, but I'll see what we can do."
A month or so back i posted here about being inspired by Bennie's program with the guys, and how i started my own "spring training". Lost now over 50 lbs and doing both cardio and strength training. Someone mentioned Bennie should hear about how he inspired me, so i wrote him and got back a really nice, personal note from Bennie.
I thought at the time that this should be something the UT athletic dept gets involved with. Some form of training, dietary help for not only students but old alumni as well. i had to make up my own programl ,both exercise and diet. Sure not too hard to do. There are tons of books out there on this stuff. But don't you think we would listen a bit more to Bennie about what exercises to do for older non atheletes then we might listen to something we just downloaded from Barnes and Nobles. Same about listening to the nutritionist from UT athletics vs one more damn diet book.
even if they tell us the SAME thing that the books do, it is sometimes the inspiration that gets us going. I know Bennie's work with our players helped kick my ass, and inspired me to do some work. Now i am seriously in a LOT better shape at 63 then i have been in since i was 30 years old. Lots of us can make that change. The UT athletic dept can, and maybe should, help a bit.
