Injured ISU LB Jake Knott, arguably the Cyclones' best player, tweeted earlier that he receiver a letter from Texas head coach Mack Brown. His response:
"Mack Brown, thank you very much for the letter. You are truly a class act."

Dear Jake,
I just wanted to write you and tell you how envious I am of your guts, grit, heart and balls. If I had any semblance of those things within spitting distance of what you possess, I'd have a clue about what it meant to develop that kind of make-up within the program I run. Unfortunately, since I lack those things, I can't locate them in recruiting and I lack the ability to instill them once the players get on campus. As a result, I usually field a team of insecure bullies with a huge sense of entitlement that can frontrun with anyone, but has a hard time handling beating anyone comparable or better in talent. In short, my team always winds up looking a lot like me and less like guys like you.
Anyway, I just wanted to write and say that I feel indicted by what you've made of yourself and I am simply grateful we don't have to face you in a few weeks. Look me up if you travel with the team so I can give you a big hug, rub your neck, and lavish hyperbole on you. You are truly a friend of the Texas program and good luck in your recovery.
Love,
Mack Brown
