Mack Brown on his notes

  • Mack was aked what notes he writes down during a game. He said he writes anything he does not like and addresses it during the staff meetings. He said he likes to stay behind the scenes during the game and for his coaches to coach the game. Just wondering what you guys thought. I would expect Mack to handle his business during the game to avoid a loss and not wait till after the game to address the good and bad...

    The head coach oversees everything, but the coordinators are there to coach and call the plays. Most on this board want Mack to meddle less, not more.

  • I'd imagine that if there was something big that would affect the flow of the game, it would be addressed.

    However, there are probably hundreds of things that come up during a game that aren't worth nit-picking over and distracting coaches attentions away from the task at hand.

    As a fan base we need to take a breath and stop over-analyzing every damn word that comes out of someone's mouth.

    Here's basically what he writes down:

    *After a turnover*
    "turnovers are bad,mmmmkay"

    *After a personal foul penalty*
    "NOS"

    *thinking about Sally*
    "more sugar cookies"

    But yeah... Mack deals with the most vague and obvious.

    I like to call them his "no shit" statements.

    Turnovers are bad? No shit.
    Interceptions are costly? No shit.
    We want to be able to run the ball? No shit.
    We want to protect the QB and give him time to throw? No shit.

    The next time Mack says anything remotely insightful and thought-provoking will be the first time.

    Again, Mack is a JOKE!

    And yeah... much of that post is a joke, but the point remains and is COMPLETELY ACCURATE... Mack is a master of the obvious. I'm glad Texas pays $5M a year to find out that turnovers are bad.
